Man Arrested After Allegedly Following Women at Grocery Store & Discharging ‘Unknown Liquid’ on Them

Jessica Stevenson had an unsettling experience at a Michigan Kroger on September 4, 2025, and wondered if she had overreacted. She shared the story on TikTok, explaining that while she was shopping, a man appeared to be following her. Every time she stepped into a new aisle, he’d appear, but not like someone shopping. He looked like he was lurking and maybe even following her. At one point, Stevenson suddenly felt a strange liquid on her back. That’s when her grocery shopping took a disgusting turn.

Stevenson explained in a now-viral TikTok that she noticed the man near her during most of the trip. While waiting at the deli counter, her backside suddenly felt “so wet.”

She looked up, thinking something dripped on her, but there didn’t appear to be a leak. Stevenson decided it was time to get moving.  She made her last few selections, and again, the man was there. This time, she felt like he was filming her.

“I’m trying not to overreact, but it really feels like he’s watching me very closely,” she said in her video. “I am now hiding my butt. I do not want this person, if they did anything, to have the satisfaction of seeing the results of their ‘happiness’ on my back.”

Ultimately, Stevenson contacted both Kroger security and police about the incident. She spoke with a detective from the Farmington Hills Police Department and turned over the pants she wore that day as evidence. Kroger management found the suspect on surveillance video as he allegedly followed Stevenson through the store.

Management remained on alert for the man in the video, and he reportedly returned on September 8, according to a police release. Staff called police to notify them, but before they arrived, the man allegedly had found another female shopper to follow and “discharged an unknown liquid onto her pants near her buttocks.”

Police arrested the man, 20-year-old Deon Otis Grant, without incident. He faces two charges of criminal sexual conduct. Grant posted a $10,000 bond and is prohibited from having contact with the victims or returning to the Kroger store, per the police release. He is due to return to court on September 19.

“The Farmington Hills Police Department is deeply committed to ensuring the safety of our community and holding people who violate that sense of safety accountable for their actions,” Farmington Hills Police Chief John Piggott shared in the release. “We are working diligently to investigate these incidents and provide answers to those affected.”

Stevenson posted several follow-ups on TikTok, including a reaction to Grant’s arrest and subsequent release from jail. She said that although these have been difficult weeks, she’s feeling confident.

“I know I’m doing the right thing,” she explained. “I know that sometimes the hardest things are the most important things.” Grant pleaded not guilty, per the police release.
