Man Charged After Allegedly Killing Pregnant Girlfriend for Wanting To Keep the Baby: ‘She Chose This’

The power to choose whether to keep a pregnancy lies with the pregnant person. Although partners and family members can voice their opinions, the decision is ultimately between a woman and her doctor. Recently, a Tennessee man was charged with allegedly killing his pregnant girlfriend for wanting to keep their baby.

Vidol Wegner, 29, allegedly admitted to strangling his partner, Ariel Nevills, 30. Additionally, he gave an interview from jail essentially blaming her for the crime. Now, he faces serious charges related to the death of his pregnant girlfriend.

In January, Wegner tipped off law enforcement about Nevills’ death.

On January 20, 2025, the Spring Hill Police Department issued a news release about Wegner’s arrest. The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office called Spring Hill police about 6 a.m. that day to request a welfare check because of a call it had received. Officers discovered a woman with fatal wounds and arrested Wegner, the person who called.

The Tennessee man was charged in the death of his pregnant girlfriend.

Per the news release, Wegner was in a relationship with Nevills, who was pregnant at the time of her death. SHPD detectives took Wegner to Maury County Jail. There, he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony murder.

Wegner reportedly confessed to strangling her.

An arrest affidavit obtained by WSMV revealed that Wegner admitted to murdering his girlfriend. He confessed to strangling Nevills with “both hands around the neck and his forearm,” until he was certain she was dead. Wegner also told police that he waited to leave the home until she had died.

He gave a disturbing interview from jail.

In an interview with WKRN from Maury County Jail, Wegner said Nevills “chose this.”

A reporter asked him straightforwardly, “Did you kill her?”

“No, dude, I didn’t. She did it to herself,” Wegner told the journalist. “I told her this is the way. I had a beautiful future set up for us. She wanted to act crazy. She chose this. It didn’t have to be this way.”

Additionally, Wegner claimed he ‘loved’ Nevills.

When the WKRN journalist asked if Wegner was mad because she got pregnant, his answer was equally disturbing.

“Listen, when I started that relationship, I told her, ‘If we get pregnant, are we going to do something about it?’ She said, ‘Yeah,'” he said. “She found out 10 weeks in; she said, ‘I want to keep it.’ I’m like, ‘Didn’t we have that conversation? I’m not doing this.’ She said, ‘Yeah.’”

Wegner was also asked if he missed Nevills and the possibility of meeting the baby. “Listen, I loved her. I would have took care of her, the baby,” he replied.

Wegner added, “I would have took care of her siblings that she wanted to take with us. I would have done all of that.”
