TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about suicide, which may be triggering to some.
On January 3, 2026, Erick Delgado, a young Minnesota father, posted a desperate plea for help on social media. His child’s mother, Maige Elizabeth Yang, allegedly disappeared with their 18-month-old daughter, De’Ali Blia Delgado, and hadn’t been seen in days. He contacted the Champlin Police Department, which quickly issued an endangered persons alert. Later that day, police cancelled the alert after finding Yang and De’Ali safe. Less than a week later, De’Ali was dead and prosecutors charged Yang with murder.
A court granted Delgado temporary custody of De’Ali on January 9, KSTP reported. Following the court appearance, Yang went home and took De’Ali upstairs. When Delgado checked on them a short time later, he reportedly found the door locked. Concerned, Delgado forced the door open and found his daughter unresponsive with her lips turning blue. He rushed to call 911 for help.
Emergency responders arrived shortly thereafter and took De’Ali to an area hospital for treatment. Staff declared her dead a short time later. According to court documents obtained by KSTP, Yang was partially conscious when help arrived after attempting suicide. When talking to investigators, she allegedly admitted to giving De’Ali a large amount of sleeping medication in her bottle. The 23-year-old mother said she hoped it would “make the pain go away.”
Delgado shared several photos of De’Ali on Facebook and a heartbreaking message. “Rest in peace to my beautiful babygirl. I love you with all my heart mamas. You are so beautiful. Amazing,” he wrote. “You were gonna be an amazing young woman. Today I got custody of you….FINALLY….. it was also the day I lost the only human being I was fighting for to keep in my life…..DE’ALI BLIA DELGADO…… SCREAM HER NAME!!! WE WILL GET JUSTICE FOR YOU MY PRINCESS.”
Yang faces second-degree murder charges. She’s currently in Hennepin County Jail on a $1.5 million bond. Per Minnesota law, Yang could spend the next 40 years in prison if convicted.
Delgado clearly loved his baby girl and will miss her dearly. It sounds like Yang had a terrible demon. Hopefully she will get the help she needs.
