What to Know
Police in Oklahoma launched an investigation into a trio of nursing home employees after a former coworker came forward with heinous allegations. McKenzie Bolfa, Aubrey Granata, and Jade Williams worked at the Golden Age Nursing Facility in Guthrie in 2024. The women reportedly shared inappropriate photos and videos of residents on Snapchat.
Among the most horrific were photos of a deceased resident and the woman allegedly mocking them. Their little game landed them behind bars, and each woman will spend years in prison for their crimes.
The women reportedly had several victims.
Guthrie Police Chief Don Sweger told KFOR police began the investigation in April 2024. They ultimately arrested the woman three months later. Bolfa, Granata, and Williams reportedly took photos of multiple residents at the Golden Age Nursing Facility and shared them with one another online.
“Some employees were involved in sending some inappropriate pictures of their patients, we found pictures of some deceased persons,” Sweger explained. “We found some pictures of the suspects playing in pubic hair.”
The photos and videos took away residents’ dignity.
Sweger added that the women shared images of residents in vulnerable moments.
“They had excuses for some of their behavior, but it didn’t really match up with the evidence that we had uncovered,” he added.
According to court documents obtained by KFOR, one of the videos reportedly showed an elderly resident in his bed wearing only a shirt and a diaper with fecal matter on his bed and clothing.
Police took the allegations seriously.
Per Law & Crime, a former coworker received a Snapchat from Williams showing Bolfa twisting the pubic hair of a female patient with a caption that read “give me a mohawk.” Williams reportedly filmed the video, and Granata laughed in the background. The suspects claimed they were just doing their jobs and cleaning up the residents, but police didn’t buy the excuses.
“It’s probably one of the saddest things,” Sweger told KFOR. “We take service to everybody very responsibly, but especially for those who don’t have a voice for themselves.”
Golden Age Nursing Facility released a statement following the women’s arrest.
Tandie Hastings, director of Golden Age Nursing Facility, shared a statement with KFOR shortly after the employees’ arrests. Hastings confirmed the facility’s commitment to residents’ safety and protection. Golden Age Nursing Facility promptly fired Bolfa, Granata, and Williams and cooperated fully with police.
“Golden Age Nursing Home endeavors to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents. Upon receiving information related to certain allegations against its employees, the facility began working with local law enforcement and other appropriate authorities to respond,” the statement reads.
“The employees involved had cleared background checks, were educated related to resident’s rights/safety and have been terminated from employment. We are committed to protecting the privacy and safety of the residents and families involved and will continue to keep them updated with any developments related to this matter,” Hastings added.
A judge sentenced Bolfa and Granata to ten years in prison for elder abuse charges. Williams received a 12-year sentence for elder abuse and conspiracy.
