A Texas woman is facing murder charges after an argument turned violent. Jayla Brown is accused of injuring her boyfriend during a fight. Weeks after the altercation, her boyfriend died as a result of the injuries she allegedly inflicted on him. Police still don’t know what caused the argument between the two, but Brown initially told them a very different story about how she found her boyfriend injured. Not long afterward, she told the truth — that she was the one who did it. At the time, he was still alive. But as police continued their investigation, the man died, and his death changed everything for Brown.
The incident took place on December 27, 2025, Click2Houston reported. Brown and her “on and off” boyfriend, Keylan Foreman, were arguing outside of her vehicle at an intersection in northeast Houston. That’s when Brown claimed that Foreman hit her, causing her to physically retaliate.
Detectives reviewed nearby surveillance footage and said nothing in the video backs up Brown’s claims of being hit, KTRK reported. According to court documents, Brown can be seen hitting Foreman and knocking him to the ground. She kept attacking him as he lay on the ground with a long, thin object in her hand. It was later determined the object was a screwdriver.

Brown told detectives she was going to drive Foreman to the hospital but didn’t have enough gas. She stopped at a gas station, asking someone to call 911, per KTRK. That’s where police officers found him bleeding and unconscious, and eventually rushed Foreman to the hospital.
According to a report from KHOU, 22-year-old Brown claimed she “blacked out” during the attack and didn’t realize what she had done until she realized how heavily Foreman was bleeding. “I hit him after he jacked me up,” she told detectives.
Foreman was taken to the hospital with lacerations on his cheek and nose. He was diagnosed with brain swelling by doctors at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital before he was transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
He was declared dead on January 19, 2026. The Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death a homicide., KHOU reported. The medical examiner found a “clear path of injury” through his nasal cavity consistent with being attacked with a screwdriver.
On January 29, a Harris County assistant district attorney accepted the murder charge. Brown was given a $150,000 bond. Police are still investigating what prompted the argument.
