Investigators believe that a woman who traveled to a hospital and fled with someone else’s newborn baby had told her family that she was expecting a baby of her own. Natalia Edith González, 39, had allegedly told her partner and other loved ones that she was pregnant when she wasn’t. She has been accused of visiting a hospital, posing as a nurse, and kidnapping a baby.

The woman traveled to a hospital in Paraguay.
González, who is from Argentina, allegedly told her family that she was going to the hospital to give birth, according to prosecutor Laura Finestra. In reality, she went to a hospital in Paraguay, visiting two other hospitals before going to the one in which she kidnapped a baby, the Sun reported.
She spoke to the newborn baby’s great grandmother before allegedly committing the crime.
Per The Sun, the grandmother of the baby’s mom talked to González, who said she was visiting a relative at the hospital. They enjoyed tea together before the baby’s grandmother realized that there was something suspicious about the woman. Later, the grandmother said she “asked (her) daughter where the baby was.” Her daughter told her “that the nurse had taken (the baby) to the pediatric ward.”

González was not working as a nurse.
Of course, this response was alarming to the grandmother because she knew González was not a nurse at the hospital. González allegedly posed as a nurse, donned a mask, entered the hospital room, and grabbed the newborn baby. She quickly left the hospital with the baby, got on a bus, and nearly made it back to Argentina with the baby.
Police found and arrested the fake nurse.

González “resisted” the arrest. Fortunately, the baby was found safe and is now with her 19-year-old mom again. The prosecutor has accused González of preying on “a mother who was alone” and stealing her baby.
The investigation is ongoing.
The horrifying kidnapping incident was captured on CCTV at the hospital, according to the Sun. The prosecutor claims that evidence found on the woman’s phone also supports the allegations made against her. Additionally, the prosecutor alleges that the woman’s partner didn’t know about any of this and was “shocked.”
