Woman Who Hired Hitman To Kill Her Husband Dies by Suicide Shortly After Getting Out of Jail

A woman who was arrested after allegedly hiring a hitman to kill her husband has died. Tatyana Remley took her own life only months after getting out of prison. The 45-year-old woman tried to hire a hitman to kill her estranged husband, Mark Remley, in 2023. She didn’t know that the alleged hitman was actually an undercover police officer who was a part of a sting operation to catch her after authorities were tipped off that she was trying to have her husband killed. Ultimately, the woman was sentenced to three years in prison but didn’t serve the full term.

Remley died on December 18, 2025, People reported. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office said her death was ruled a suicide.

According to KGTV, Remley died by suicide in the middle of San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood. The medical examiner’s office said she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

People walking through the busy neighborhood were shocked that someone would choose to die by suicide there. The area has an outdoor dining area as well as a bustling pedestrian walkway. Witnesses told investigative reporter Austin Grabish that they saw a woman fire a shot in the air before shooting herself outside the Princess Pub.

In October, Remley shared a social media post revealing that she had attempted suicide more than once in the past. She told her followers that dreams do come true, but you have to believe in yourself.

“No matter what, love yourself,” she wrote in the post, adding the hashtag suicide prevention to the clip.

Mark Remley spoke with the Daily Mail after his wife’s death, telling the newspaper he talked to her shortly before she took her own life. He said she called him from a bar around 7 p.m. and complained about the man she was with at the time.

“She FaceTimed me while in the bathroom stall and told me, ‘I’m with this guy and he’s being a jerk,’” Remley said. “I told her, ‘Do you have this, because I can send help if you need it. I can call 911 if you’re in trouble.’”

After assuring him she had things under control, she hung up. That was the last time they spoke, the Daily Mail reported. When he didn’t hear from her the next day, he filed a missing person’s report. That’s when officials confirmed that his estranged wife had died.

“I tried so many times to get her help because I saw her struggle with life throughout our marriage,” he said. He said he “did not see this coming,” adding, “I loved her and yes, our marriage ended very badly. But this was the last thing I thought would happen to her.”

Following her release from prison for the attempted hit on Mark’s life, Remley was arrested and charged with arson, the Times of San Diego reported. The charges stemmed from an attempt to burn down the home she had shared with her husband. She was scheduled to appear in court in March 2026.
