Every new parent has been warned about the dangers of co-sleeping. Sharing a bed with your baby may seem like a good idea when you’re exhausted. Having them right next to you for a feeding, or being close to them because they sleep better feels like a perfect solution, but it’s a well-documented risk.
One mom is sharing the story about her baby who unfortunately lost his life when her former partner decided to try co-sleeping. Now, she is trying to warn other parents about the danger.

She was so excited to become a mom.
Chloe McCreery shared her son Logan’s story with Metro UK. She explained that she and her then-partner Gary welcomed their baby boy at 38 weeks in July 2020. McCreery had to have an emergency C-section after doctors discovered that she was taking on extra fluid. There was also a knot in the umbilical cord. Despite all of this, her baby boy was healthy.
She was warned about the dangers of co-sleeping.
“I had friends with children who explained to me all about the dangers of co-sleeping. Theyād told me that the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is 50 times higher for babies when they sleep on a sofa or armchair with an adult and that they are also at risk of accidental death as they can easily slip into a position where they are trapped and canāt breathe,” McCreery said.
As a result of what she had learned, she always put her baby boy in a crib, covered only by a light blanket.

The day Logan died was 'normal,' according to the mom.
On October 17, 2020, Logan had a little bit of a cold, so the family decided to stay inside, “watching Disney movies and tucking into a KFC.”
After McCreery fell asleep, Gary gave the baby his last feed at midnight. When the infant fell asleep, instead of putting him in his crib like usual, Gary put the little one up against a V-shaped pregnancy pillow to sleep.
“Around 6.30 a.m. the next morning I woke to the sound of Gary screaming: āHeās not breathing, heās not breathing!ā ” she shared. “I raced upstairs but as soon as I saw Logan I knew.”
There was nothing they could do to save her baby boy.
Despite everyone’s best attempt to save Logan, he was pronounced dead about an hour after he was found. McCreery found herself in a position she never could have anticipated: grieving mother. She shared that she spent time with her son’s body at the funeral home after his death.
“No coffin should ever be that tiny,” she said, adding that she rode with his body in the hearse.
“For months I couldnāt even face leaving the house. And in January 2021, still not seeing any way forward without Logan, I tried to take my own life,” she admitted. “I was offered therapy and that was a turning point.”
She finally got answers about her son's death years later.
McCreery revealed that her relationship with Gary ended after Logan’s death.
In August 2024, almost four years after her baby died, authorities held an inquest into his death. The inquest found there were three main contributing factors in Logan’s death: “neurological anomalies on his brain, bronchopneumonia, and co-sleeping.”
Now, McCreery is trying to warn other parents so they don’t suffer the way she has. “Never ever take them to bed with you ā just one time could be enough to change everything,” she said.
