Mom of 5 Under Fire for Succumbing To Bullies & Waxing Daughter’s Facial Hair

For as long as bullies have been terrorizing playgrounds, school buses, and cafeterias, there’s still no clear-cut way on how they should be handled. Do you try your best to ignore them? Tell a teacher? Fight back? No one answer works for every bully.

As the times — and technology change — bullying has unfortunately, extended well beyond the schoolyard. One mother recently came under fire for the way she decided to help her daughter address her bullies, but the internet assumed she was teaching her child how to give in to them.

The mom waxed her daughter's lip and unibrow at her daughter's request.

Ashlee Pease is a mother of five who shares stories from her family on her TikTok @thepeasefamily, where she has over 200,000 followers. In one video, which has now amassed over 1 million views, Ashlee revealed that her daughter was being teased for her facial hair.

As a solution to the problem, her daughter Giselle asked Ashlee for a wax. She agreed to wax the space in between her daughter’s eyebrows and the fine (and barely visible) hairs on her upper lip.

Giselle had some stubborn hairs that wouldn't go away easily.

Anyone who’s waxed before knows it’s not a pleasant process. And Ashlee’s daughter evidently has coarse hair. Even after two strips of wax were applied to her brow area, Ashlee still had to go in with tweezers to clear out the hairs that wouldn’t budge. Next, she tackled her “mustache.”

Some users thought Ashlee let the bullies win.

After a few attempts, the hairs were still there and Ashlee concluded the video saying that she was going to take her daughter to the professionals to get it done properly and perhaps with less pain. While Ashlee thought this was the best course of action, many people in her comments believed that she should have left her daughter’s hair alone.

One commenter wrote: “She’s beautiful and didn’t need it. Don’t listen to them.” commenter wrote.

“I feel like people from her school watch this and get the satisfaction that they got to her,” another commented.

Others supported Ashlee's decision.

Though those comments received thousands of likes, there were other people who supported Ashlee’s decision. Other users shared that they too were hairy children. Some shared that their parents allowed them to remove hair and it was smooth sailing from there.

Some people claimed that their parents were anti-hair removal and it didn’t help with the bullying or their self confidence.

“You did everything right!” someone commented. "Told her it was normal and respected her decision. Suic$de is so common it’s so sad. Some kids aren’t emotionally prepared."

Ashlee responded to the people who questioned her decision to film this moment for the internet.

@thepeasefamily Replying to @l7lsy GISELLE wants the videos posted. GISELLE asks to do these videos. Eveyone in her school watches her and thinks shes COOL… the “bully” is the same the boy that asked her for her phone nunber and she told him no… #thepeasefamily ♬ original sound - The Pease Family

Someone even accused Ashlee of being obnoxious for posting the video in the first place, claiming that by doing so Giselle was just going to be the target of additional torment. Ashlee responded in the caption of another TikTok video.

“GISELLE wants the videos posted. GISELLE asks to do these videos. Everyone in her school watches her and thinks she's COOL… the 'bully' is the same the boy that asked her for her phone number and she told him no…”

If this was your child, what would you have done?
