It’s common knowledge that mothers rarely get a moment’s peace, let alone any privacy. For a lot of moms, that includes the time she needs to use the restroom. Children are often involved in what was once a private and solitary activity. Little ones sometimes come barging in, even when you've done everything possible to avoid their prying eyes.
Some kids may even want to sit and chat a while, using the opportunity to ask plenty of questions and take note of what mom has going on in there. One mother recently shared her daughter’s horrified reaction to her bathroom business and it has the TikTok community in stitches.
This TikToker thought she was having an innocent conversation with her daughters.
Madds Meyer, a Canadian TikToker and mom, shared what started off as an innocent conversation with her daughters. They were discussing their desire to be boys.
Meyer questioned her younger daughter, “Why do you want to be a boy?” The little girl answered simply, “Because we like being boys instead of girls.”
But her older daughter expressed some real concerns about what she'd witnessed during her mom's bathroom time.
Suddenly, her older daughter jumped in with a more detailed explanation about their hesitancy about continuing on their path to womanhood.
“Because your vagina bleeds,” the older one said her face shifting in concern. “We don’t like it. We’re too nervous.”
Meyer chuckles but it’s clear her daughter is dead serious.
Meyer said her daughters absorb everything they see.
“Yeah,” the younger one offers in agreement. In the text over the video, Meyer shared that the conversation came out of nowhere and was not what she was expecting at all.
In the caption for the video, she shared that the concerns had likely been troubling her daughters for some time. “The life of a mom who has no privacy and kids that take everything in like a little sponge …”
Other TikTokers could relate to her daughters' worries.
Meyer took the time out to have a “fun” conversation with her daughters afterward, which is so important, and definitely the right call as a parent.
In the comments section, other people shared big sister’s sentiments. “I've been bleeding for 25 years and it still makes me nervous,” one user wrote.
One parent shared a similar conversation they had with their child. “My son told me he wanted to be a girl.. when asked why.. he said cause he wanted to have a baby,” the commented explained.
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side, no matter where you’re standing. But let's be honest: Meyer's daughter's fears are not at all unfounded. Menstruation may be a fact of life, but seeing it for the first time will always be shocking.
