As a culture, we love a good snapback story. We get really excited to see a woman have a baby and then immediately get back to her pre-baby body, no matter what she might have done to achieve the feat. In the US, it’s no secret that our maternity leave policy could go a lot further in allowing parents the time they need to bond with their children before they’re forced to return to work for fear that they won’t be able to support their growing family.
Plenty of new moms feel rushed back into the workforce after doing the hard work of bringing life into the world and adjusting to having a newborn in the house. Over on the other side of the pond, one mother, whose child was under a week old when she went back to work, is receiving a different reaction for snapping back and deciding to return to work.
Jaelyn Cox said she didn't want to miss out on potential income.
Cox is a 29-year-old from Glasgow, Scotland. Just five days after giving birth to her second child — a daughter — she was already back to her job working as an OnlyFans model and exotic dancer. Cox shared that she didn’t want to miss out on any potential income by taking too much time away from her work.
Her boyfriend is not in favor of her decision.
It was a decision that her boyfriend and the father of her daughter did not support. “He was raging, telling me I need time to rest,” Cox told The Scottish Sun.
But Cox says it’s because of her boyfriend’s support that she feels confident getting back out there. “[He’s] been doing most of the night feeds,” Cox said. “So I can make money during the night and he does the babysitting.”
Her boyfriend had issues with her choices during pregnancy as well.
This is not the first time, Cox’s boyfriend has taken issue with her behavior. Even when she was pregnant, he felt that her maternity clothes showed too much skin. But Cox was determined to keep working up until she gave birth and for her, that included looking sexy. She said there were other people who gave her funny looks as well.
But men seem to love Cox's pre- and postpartum body.
Still, Cox’s pregnancy didn’t put a damper on her business. Initially, she worried that her visible baby bump would affect the $900 she earns each night at Seventh Heaven, an adult venue in Glasgow.
It did. But positively. “My body has changed, my boobs are massive,” she told The Scottish Sun. “I feel like I’ve made more money since I’ve gotten pregnant.”
