The Internet Is Laughing at Kim Kardashian Trying To Be Relatable in ‘Embarrassing’ Video

Kim Kardashian isn't a typical American. She leads a life far grander than most of us could imagine, which is why she's so well-known. And that's a big reason why she and her family are still in the spotlight. They're not relatable, and it's funny to watch them attempt to be sometimes — such as Kendall trying to cut cucumber or Kylie and Kris going to the grocery store. But those moments can be very cringy at times, and the critics don't seem to have an issue with pointing them out.

Like Kim's latest collaboration, for example.

The reality TV star recently shared a video of herself promoting a vegan food meat alternative. Posted across her social media channels, the video clip followed the typical format of a commercial for a food product.

"I believe so much in the mission of Beyond Meat that I've stepped in to help with my greatest asset: My taste," she said in the video. In front of her, several plates feature the products.

"This plant-based meat is not only amazingly delicious, but it's better for you and better for the planet," she said while holding up several plant-based meat products near her mouth as if she was seconds from taking a bite.

"So good!" she said before sharing she was the company's "chief taste consultant."

It was a typical food ad: She showed off a bunch of food and made all the sounds we'd expect to hear from someone who just took a bite of the best food ever.

Except fans pointed out pretty quickly that despite Kim declaring the food to be super tasty, she never actually took a bite of anything. And it's pretty obvious, according to the commenters.

People took note of strange editing that had the video cut just before Kim put the food in her mouth and then cut back when she was chewing.

But there were no bites taken out of the food when the camera cut back.

"But you didn't put anything in your mouth," one critic wrote in the comments. "Are you really eating this? haha ha."

"Sis didn't take one bite lmao," another person shared.

And those comments just kept coming.

"I would have believed this if she had of really eaten any of it."

"You didn't even eat the food."

"She ain't eat nothing ina video or I'm tripping."

"It's so inauthentic it hurts.."

"This is embarrassing."

Others were confused that Kim was chosen for the collaboration.

Fans of the Kardashians wrote that the ad felt more inauthentic because it featured Kim and not her sister Kourtney, who has been vocal about her vegan lifestyle. Still, fans seemed to forget that Kim has been eating a primarily plant-based diet.

"This would have been more believable if it were Kourt," someone wrote.

"Why isn't her sister doing this; she's the vegan?" another person asked.

Most people were left confused about the video.

Some commenters wrote that they thought the video was "an SNL skit," and others weren't sure if they were supposed to laugh at it or take it seriously.

"Kim on her path to being a comedian," one person pointed out.

The video was cheesy, but it's easy for critics to forget that the Kardashians are masters at marketing. The awkwardness of the video was likely very intentional.

By keeping this ad as awkward as it is, look how much attention it's getting.

Kim hasn't responded to the criticism of the video and neither has anyone on her team. But Beyond Meat posted a follow-up video on its TikTok channel addressing all the questions about Kim not eating a bite of the food.

"For everyone asking, YES, Kim Kardashian did eat the burger," the caption of the 11-second video explained.
