‘No One Warned Me:’ My 5-Year-Old Son Has Worms in His Anus & I’m Totally Freaking Out

We love our kids. They make us smile, they make us laugh, they make us proud, and sometimes they make us cry. And, well, they've made us gag a time or two, as well. A lot of gross things come along with childhood. Kids sometimes wake up with ailments we have never heard of or potentially blocked out of our memory because they are just that disgusting. A TikTok dad recently got a dose of gross and shared his harrowing tale with the world.

Justin, who calls himself a parenting cheerleader and posts on TikTok as @drumbeatlane, had to go to the pharmacy to get medicine for his son's pinworms, and he took us along for the ride. It is a hilarious and precautionary tale for parents because you never know what the day may bring.

The pinworms were a first for the family.

@drumbeatlane Parenting truly is just one surprise after another. But the biggest surprise to me every time something crazy happens is that it is usually super common, just no one talks about it. So I’m warning you. Your child might get worms in their anus. #justinkellough #dadsoftiktok #parentsoftiktok #momsoftiktok #parentingadvice #parenting @Justin ♬ original sound - Justin

Justin's TikTok video, which has more than 6 million views, shows the dad trekking across the parking lot to get medication because his "Son has worms in his anus," he declares in an overwhelmed tone.

He explains that although no one ever told him about pinworms, it's evidently a typical kid thing. "But apparently, it's like, super normal for a child just to have worms in his booty hole. Going to buy some medicine, not freaking out," he declares, clearly starting to freak out.

Well, he wasn't really freaking out until he was.

This poor dad spent 20 minutes in the same aisle at the store looking for pinworm medication to no avail. Thankfully, his wife saved the day, as moms always do, right?

"I would have died on that aisle if I had not sent pictures to my wife," he explains.

The box was flipped to the Spanish side, which his eagle-eyed spouse spotted, and Justin was able to procure the needed medication and head back home.

TikTokers warned Justin not to get too comfortable.

Apparently, many people have had pinworms, which are super contagious, and told Justin the whole family should be treated.

Some people offered tips.

"Wash EVERYTHING. Remedicate after 14 days because the eggs will hatch. Then rewash everything again in HOT water," someone suggested.

"Medicate EVERYONE in the house hold. Wash everything on hot! Dry on HOT if possible. Hand washing to the extreme! Good luck," another person wrote.

Others had their own stories.

"I got pinworms as a kid, sleeping in a tent in my front yard. Apparently, it's from dirty hands and kids eating w/o washing their hands first. ✋️" someone explained.

Some people thanked their stars that they've never had them.

"Uhhhh I have had kids for almost 14 years and never had an issue with those!!!! I guess I will count my blessings ," another comment reads.

TikTokers love his parenting hot takes.

It is nice to know that we aren't alone, and seeing a dad dish the parenting dirt can be particularly refreshing.

One person wrote, "parenting just be unlocking levels of jumanji everytime something new happens."

"I work with small kids. I went my entire life and then got lice and pinworms in my mid thirties. ," someone admitted.

A lot of people wanted to spread the word.

"GET THE GIRL WITH THE LIST," someone screamed, referring to a TikTok user known for her list of reasons not to have kids.

He decided to share the intimate story to help other parents.

@drumbeatlane If you’re new here, this is who I am and why I’m here. I don’t have brilliant strategies for getting your kids to eat their dinner, and I’m kind of tired of the experts on social media giving me surefire ways to make my kids better that end up not working. I’m here because I’m an average parent and I want other parents to know you’re doing great at a really hard job. Justin told People that he uses his TikTok channel to share parenting stories with other people so they don't feel so alone. Parenting comes with a lot of curveballs, and he hopes to make some of them a bit easier to handle.

"For many years, it was easy to feel alone in parenting. In my head, I knew that other parents probably felt some of the same things I did, but finding that so many people resonate with the same struggles as me has been a huge encouragement," he explains via the magazine. "Being able to assure other parents that they aren't alone by posting videos that are honest and transparent has been a really positive experience."

Justin, we love what you're doing. You're helping many parents get through the day-to-day with a smile and a laugh. Trust us: Plenty of us need your humor on the days we just want to cry. Keep the laughs and truth bombs coming. We are following.
