Kate Middleton’s Surprising Skill Makes Her the Hit of Neighborhood Birthday Parties

Kate Middleton might be the Princess of Wales, but that doesn't mean she hasn't already found a way to relate to the moms who live in her community and don't happen to be part of the British royal family. According to a source close to the mom of three, Kate pulls out a certain skill when she takes her kids to neighborhood birthday parties that always has everyone impressed – and it's actually a lot more relatable than some people might think.

Kate wants to keep her children's childhoods as normal as possible.

Obviously, Prince George, 10, will someday become king, and younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, will always be senior royals themselves. But that hasn't stopped Kate from trying to give them as much of the normalcy she grew up with as possible, according to what a royal insider recently told People.

Kate is happy to bond with fellow parents while watching her children play sports — field hockey for Charlotte and soccer for George.

She's learned a special trick that endears herself to parents who live nearby.

The source said that when Will and Kate are at Anmer Hall, their country home in Norfolk, Kate is known for taking the kids to neighborhood birthday parties. And when she's there, she always surprises the other parents by knowing the names of all the children in attendance.

That's pretty impressive!

She always keeps her family first.

Will and the kids come above all else, which means that Kate has gotten good at keeping boundaries — something that many parents can struggle with.

"She is very good at setting boundaries, which helps keep everything running smoothly. But the family is the priority, always," a friend of Kate's told the news outlet.

When William becomes king someday, it seems Kate is prepared to be queen — and not just because of the strong family bonds she's formed over the years.

"She has this public image of being nice and smiley and, dare I say, innocuous. But she is actually strong-minded, strong-willed and prepared to fight for what she wants and what she thinks is right," Valentine Low, a royal expert, told People.

Underneath the title, Kate is still a mom.

And even though there's no doubt her motherhood experience is worlds different from what many of us are used to, it appears she still enjoys connecting with fellow moms as much as she can — even if they don't happen to be royal. There's no doubt that forming these connections in her own neighborhood is going to pay off when it comes to George, Charlotte, and Louis finding friends.
