Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth are no strangers to real estate projects — after all, it's how they pay their bills. But it sounds like one of their most recent projects has the people in their community up in arms. Apparently, Joy and Austin were planning to open an RV park in a residential area near their home in Arkansas – at least, until other residents caught wind of their plans and decided to speak out.

Joy and Austin were hoping to open a park for 'camping' and 'renting.'
As Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball reported on Instagram, the former Counting On couple has purchased two properties: one that includes 12 acres across the street from a day care center and another that's next to an elementary school.
Joy and Austin have started the ball rolling on getting these residential areas rezoned, but if the locals in the community have anything to say about it, their plans will never materialize.
The Duggars supposedly have a bad track record with RV parks.
According to what a source told Katie Joy, when the Duggars have opened an RV park in the past, they've allowed long-term rentals, which creates a transient population in the area, thus leading to chaos that includes drug use and fighting.
The area that Joy and Austin live in is not conducive to actual camping: There aren't accessible trails near where these proposed parks would go.
Residents think Joy and Austin's plan is 'out of touch with reality.'
That's why they planned to show up to a community meeting so they could make their voices heard. Katie Joy reported that Joy and Austin going against the wishes of their fellow residents like this would only serve to make their family "more despised."

They wouldn't be the first members of the family to have a similar plan.
As In Touch Weekly reported, back in May 2018, Jim Bob and Michelle were approved to build a nearly 30-acre "luxury RV park" near the Ozarks. There have been other reports that John David opened a park called RV Park Express in the summer of 2020, so it seems as if Joy and Austin's idea isn't a unique one.
Clearly, the family has built a track record in this department that locals just aren't happy with.
Ultimately, their plans never made it off the ground.
Following the meeting, Joy and Austin's proposal for the project was denied. Not only did the community shut it down, but the vote was also unanimous, and unfortunately, this means that the couple was out the $160,000 investment they'd put into the property.
No word on what they plan to do with it now, but one thing is for sure: It will not be used to build an RV park.
