Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Accused of Betraying Queen Elizabeth With New Website Launch

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are coming under fire for their latest business decision. The couple has decided to continue using their royal titles, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, as well as the Sussex name, as a part of their official branding, seemingly going back on a promise made to the late Queen Elizabeth. Despite never being stripped of their titles, people think they shouldn’t be able to capitalize off of them due to their stepping back from being working royals in 2020.

Earlier this week, the pair debuted a new version of their official website, Sussex.com. Their two previous websites, Sussexroyal.com and Archewell.com, which had been used to update the public on their philanthropic projects, now redirect to their new site.

The homepage reads, "The Office of Prince Harry & Meghan The Duke and Duchess of Sussex," along with Meghan’s coat of arms.

People are big mad about the use of 'Sussex.'

As Page Six pointed out, many people who are loyal to the royal family took issue with the couple’s rebranding and voiced their displeasure on social media.

"Harry and Meghan are still branding themselves as 'the Sussexes,'" one person tweeted. "They abandoned their duty to this country, insulted our people and history, mocked our traditions & undermined our monarchy. The brass to keep parasitising off this title!"

"Umm, these two nincompoops do realize they are not ‘Sussex,’ right?" another wrote. "The gall of buying http://Sussex.com, and including a royal crest, though they hate the royals, is ridiculous."

"Strip the grifters of their titles, it’s long overdue," yet another piled on.

They made an agreement with Queen Elizabeth when they stepped back from their royal duties.

When Harry and Meghan stepped away from being working members of the Royal Family, they agreed to no longer use the "Sussex Royal" brand based on a request made by the late Queen Elizabeth.

"As was agreed with The Royal Family, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer use the name Sussex Royal for their charitable organisation, Instagram or website," a spokesperson for the couple said. Their Instagram account hasn’t shared a post since March 2020.

Despite the agreement, the couple still have their royal titles.

Despite not using "Sussex Royal" as a brand anymore and stepping away from royal life, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have never been stripped of their royal titles, which were given to them by the Queen in 2018.

Insiders don't seem to think the couple will ever lose their titles, including after their website update.

King Charles will never strip them of their royal titles.

According to royal author Robert Jobson, a source close to Buckingham Palace "absolutely categorically said, that’s just not going to happen." In fact, their two children were given new titles after King Charles took the throne. The children are now known as Prince Archie and Princesses Lilibet.

Maybe it makes sense that they're using their titles for their new site after all.
