Christina Haack Says Tarek El Moussa Made Ex Josh Hall ‘Very Insecure’ in Premiere of ‘The Flip Off’

Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa went their separate ways in 2016, and though their relationship was rocky at first, they’ve managed to find a way to be friends. But it doesn’t sound like that’s something Christina’s estranged husband, Josh Hall, could understand, according to what she said on the premiere of her new HGTV series, The Flip Off, this week. Even though Tarek and Christina will always have to be in each other’s lives for the sake of their two children, she said it made Josh “very insecure” to see them getting along.

The Flip Off premiered on Wednesday, and just as the trailers for the new series have hinted, fans got a glimpse of the drama brewing in Christina and Josh’s marriage in footage filmed before the former couple filed for divorce in July 2024. During a tearful conversation with Tarek, Christina opened up about just how bad things had been between her and Josh behind closed doors at that time.

“You make him very insecure,” Christina told Tarek. “Every time we’d barely joke at [the kids’] soccer [games], or if I laughed at you, he like would not speak to me for two to three days. I would get silent treatment.”

But Tarek wasn’t the only topic she and Josh butted heads on in their marriage. “He doesn’t like me, calls me cocky. He thinks I’m arrogant,” she said. “We both know I’m not cocky or arrogant. I just do work.”

After Christina told Tarek how “horrible” things have been in her life since their 2016 split – before her breakup from Josh, Christina divorced Ant Anstead in 2021 after three years of marriage – the exes were able to have a heart-to-heart.

“I understand that feeling of being a little bit lost. And I acknowledge that I’m a big part, if not the entire part, of all of this,” Tarek said, before promising Christina that he’d forgiven her for everything they’d been through “a hundred percent.”

“You’re a great dad. I’m really proud of you,” Christina said. “You’ve come a really long way. I can see it, you know. You’re so much calmer, you’re so much wiser, for real.”

It’s good to see these two getting along so well – especially because this is likely a time when Christina could use someone to lean on. And though the season is off to a bit of an emotional start, it appears watching the exes compete on The Flip Off is going to be a lot of fun.
