Critics Call Out Taylor Frankie Paul for ‘Performative’ Social Media Behavior

MomTok founding member Taylor Frankie Paul is known for posting on social media about her life and her kids. It’s not unlike other moms who belong to the group made even more famous by The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. But after she shared an Instagram post to seemingly humble brag about being invited to events and choosing to spend time with her kids instead, some accused Taylor of being a bit “performative.” And really, can you blame them?

In the post, Taylor shared a photo of herself kneeling by a bath, presumably during bath time for one of her three children. She shares in the caption that she has been invited to similar publicity events as her costars, and she has been given similar opportunities. Except, according to Taylor, she chooses to put her family first.

Taylor Frankie Paul’s social media posts aren’t fooling anyone.

In early June 2025, Taylor made a post on Instagram where she admitted to having “fomo” in regards to some of the other MomTok ladies. Although they have shared opportunities that they gained as part of MomTok and from being on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Taylor has focused more on being a mom and has not accepted any similar opportunities.

She wrote in the caption, “I’ll never regret choosing what was needed for the sake of my mental health and these little moments I’ll never get back.”

This appears to be in clear reference to taking care of her children. According to Taylor’s biggest haters, however, it’s more of a “performative” post meant to remind her followers that she, too, has been given opportunities. She just hasn’t accepted many. That’s what many have said in a Reddit thread about Taylor’s post, and even though some support Taylor on her journey, others have been quick to call her out.

The person who shared the post on Reddit wrote, “Is this really about being with her kids or making sure everyone knows she was offered first and denied all these events the other girls are going to?” Several of Taylor’s critics commented to agree with that sentiment.

“If she really was that secure in her choices she wouldn’t feel the need to ‘remind’ her followers or the rest of MomTok,” one Redditor commented on the thread. “Op is correct that this is absolutely an attempted flex.”

Someone else wrote, “I mean, the entire MomTok thing is performative. That’s her whole career, creating content.”

When someone else commented, “She was sitting so stiff and weirdly in this video,” another user responded with, “I was wondering if someone would mention that. It doesn’t even feel like there is actually a kid in the tub!! I feel like she faked the whole thing and is just acting haha.”

Because the point of the video is to show Taylor giving one of her kids a bath but it also looks fake to some, another person commented on Reddit with, “This whole bath interaction is so fake and cringe.”

Someone else agreed, writing, “Yesss I was wondering if someone would say it. It looks like she filmed it with no kid even in the tub, based on her demeanor and actions. That’s not how she usually interacts with her kids.”

According to another one of Taylor’s haters, her behavior isn’t surprising.

“This is classic Mormon,” the person wrote in the thread. “Performative righteousness. This is super normal in Mormon culture. Breeds, so many fake people. However, Taylor does not hide her mistakes, so that’s better than most.”
