After Danny Masterson was convicted of raping two women in a trial that wrapped up last spring, he was sentenced to spend 30 years to life behind bars. And now, it sounds like big changes to his life are still happening outside of prison. According to a new report, Danny has been expelled from the Church of Scientology for his crimes, which means that anyone who is still part of the religion will be required to "shun" him as he's now been designated a "suppressive person" βΒ and that may include his wife and child.

The church is reportedly putting some distance between its religion and Danny.

Former Scientologist Jeffrey Augustine said in an interview with the Daily Mail that Danny has been designated a "suppressive person" βΒ or someone who could get in the way of the spiritual journey of others who follow the religion.
Interestingly enough, though, Jeffrey said the reason he was expelled is because he wasn't "maintaining the high ethical standards for the Church of Scientology" along with "other reasons," not necessarily because of his conviction.
Supposedly, members of the church were complaining that Danny was still part of the religion.

Jeffrey said he believes the decision was made for the church to save face.
"A lot of Scientologists were complaining that they have friends and family members that they can't talk to because they were declared suppressive. They questioned why Danny Masterson was allowed to be a Scientologist in good standing when he's brought such a horrible public relations situation on to the church with his felony rape convictions," he said.
"So the members are asking why were their friends and family declared for reading the internet, watching Leah Remini's show, and doing other things that are far below what Masterson was charged with?"
This could be one of the reasons his wife filed for divorce.

Following his sentencing, wife Bijou Philips filed for divorce in September, asking for full physical and legal custody of their 9-year-old daughter, Fianna. She also asked the court to grant her spousal support.
"I don't think Bijou wants to visit him in prison ever. She was just awarded custody of their daughter," Jeffrey said. "I personally think Bijou Phillips will leave the Church of Scientology, that's my prediction. It's brought her nothing but grief, heartache and sorrow."
More legal trouble could be coming Danny's way.
The three women who accused Danny of rape are taking him and the Church of Scientology to court for harassment in a civil suit, set to begin in 2025, and Jeffrey believes that Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige may be trying to minimize the damage before the trial begins.
"The suit is coming up and Scientology doesn't want to be accountable. They are going to say they have nothing to do with Masterson anymore," he said.

It's important to take this intel with a grain of salt.
According to what a representative for the Church of Scientology told Radar Online, Jeffrey is considered "dangerous," though it didn't elaborate on why. The source also refused to answer questions about whether Danny has been expelled, so we'll just have to wait and see how the situation continues to unfold.
