Elon Musk Buys $35 Million Secret Compound for His 11 Kids & Their Moms

Elon Musk has reportedly bought a secret compound for his 11 children and their mothers to live on. In a post published by The New York Times, it was reported that the 53-year-old Tesla CEO wants his kids and their three mothers to live in adjoining properties on the compound in order for them to be a part of each other’s lives — and for him to be able to schedule more quality time amongst his kids.

Here's what it cost.

The New York Post reported that Elon spent $35 million on the properties in Austin, Texas. One of them is a 14,400-square-foot mansion with a Tuscan villa resemblance, and the other is a six-bedroom house right behind it. Sources close to him say that when he’s in the city, he often stays at a third property, which is about a 10-minute walk away from the other two.

Elon wanted to keep his purchase a secret.

The businessman apparently wanted to remain secretive about his purchase. The Times stated that he made the property sellers sign nondisclosure agreements before submitting an offer. He also reportedly offered up to 70% more than the asking price of what the homes would have sold for on the market.

One of the mothers has moved into a home on the compound.

As of now, Shivon Zilis, one of the mothers who has three children with Elon, has moved into one of the homes with their kids. Claire Boucher (aka Grimes) who also shares three of his children with him, is in a custody battle with him and has not moved onto the compound. Justine Musk, his first wife who is the mother to five of his kids, is also not living on the compound.

Elon is worried about the declining birth rate.

The compound could be another form of Elon’s obsession with having kids, as he’s expressed concern over the declining birth rates in prior years.

“It should be considered a national emergency to have kids,” he posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) in June 2024. In an interview in September 2024, he brought up the matter again. “If you have a good father and a good mother, you’ll have exceptional children. If you have no children, I feel very sorry for you.”

People are pretty concerned.

“What kind of ‘Sister wives’ cult is this??” one person questioned, with many others agreeing that it gives off cult-like vibes. “Maybe he should spend 35 million dollars on therapy instead,” another person suggested. Someone else added in, “Everything about this man gives super villain vibes.”
