Until very recently, the Duggar kids kept to their family’s strict rules even as they grew up and left the nest. That means certain things like drinking, wearing pants, and even dancing were off limits until certain members of the family, such as Jill and Jinger, decided they wanted to make their own decisions. Jason has done the same, which means that at his wedding earlier this month, he became the first in the family to have a dance floor – which apparently led to some confusion for his guests and the DJ.

Jason and Maddie got married on October 3.
Theirs was a quick engagement — Jason formally popped the question less than two months before they tied the knot — but their family members were still able to come together for their wedding, including his sister, Jinger, and her husband, Jeremy, who live a long way from the family’s home base in Arkansas.
Jinger and Jeremy talked about Jason's wedding on their podcast this week.
The Duggar weddings being thrown these days, with the now-adult siblings mostly having moved away from the strict Institute in Basic Life Principles philosophies they were raised under, are a lot different than the first few were.
Dancing was forbidden in their household growing up, so until now, it wasn’t really an activity that took place at Duggar weddings. But Jason’s changed all of that, apparently.
Jason and Maddie were the first couple to have a dance floor in the Duggar family.
Because this was so new to their guests, Jinger said “hardly anybody was dancing.”
“So, there were some times when the DJ would turn on a song and [the dance floor] would be full ‘cause it was, like, the ‘Cha Cha Slide’ or whatever,” she said on the podcast. “He would turn it on ‘cause it tells you exactly what to do. So, all these people would get out there and do it, and then he’d turn on the next song and there would be no one out there ‘cause no one knows how to dance or they don’t want to get out there and be the only one.”
The DJ was 'confused' about why more people weren't dancing.
“I went up to him at one point and I said, ‘Bro, do you have any idea what you go into at this wedding?’ And he said, ‘No, but it’s wild,’” Jeremy said on the podcast. “And then, I said, ‘Dude, you just need to know, like, they don’t dance. This is the first dance floor at a Duggar wedding.’ And he had no idea. He was like, ‘Whoa, that’s crazy.’”
“That was an experience,” Jinger said.

There was dancing at Jana's wedding, but apparently, no dance floor.
When Jana and now-husband Stephen Wissmann surprised fans by getting married in August, they became the first Duggar couple to have a first dance. But because they didn’t have a traditional DJ and dance floor set up the way that Jason and Maddie did, it sounds like it wasn’t an opportunity for their family to get used to the idea.
As long as everyone had fun, that’s all that matters. And they’ll all be more prepared for the dance floor the next time around!
