Kourtney Kardashian and her four children have cut dairy and gluten from their diets, but they’ve been known to make exceptions at times. Previously, 45-year-old Kourtney described herself as “like 95% vegan.” Her husband, Travis Barker, is fully vegan. Even though she and her kids adhere to their dairy-free and gluten-free diet most of the time, a photo of a drink shared to her Instagram Stories in December appeared to potentially have dairy in it.

Some suspected that Kourtney might be deviating from her dairy-free diet.
On December 9, Kourtney shared a photo of two hot drinks to her Instagram Stories. Because one of the drinks appeared to be topped with whipped cream, some wondered if Kourtney had abandoned her “95% vegan” diet. However, it’s unclear if the whipped cream in the cup was a dairy-free alternative.
Kourtney has also said she and her kids will make exceptions from time to time. “We pick our battles and I do let the kids have popcorn at the movies and a churro at Disneyland,” Kourtney previously told People.
Is reintroducing dairy safe?
Relaxing one’s diet can come with uncomfortable symptoms. Because Kourtney and her kids ditched dairy and gluten years ago, reintroducing those foods might cause some gastrointestinal issues at first, per Bustle and Hello! magazine. Dietician Lola Biggs told Hello! that “in the initial period, constipation, indigestion and altered bowel movements can be experienced and can be uncomfortable.”

Previously, Kourtney said giving up dairy and gluten had a positive impact on her family.
Transitioning to a dairy-free and gluten-free diet was an “adjustment” for Kourtney’s family. Ultimately, the change was a positive one. She previously told People that she has “noticed a great positive change in behavior with my children when we stick to a gluten-free and dairy-free diet.”
At the time, she emphasized that a dairy-free and gluten-free diet is not for everyone. “I don’t think everyone needs to eat this way but we had muscle testing done, which showed we all have sensitivities to corn, gluten, and dairy,” she told the magazine.
Kourtney's husband, Travis Barker, has talked about the positive effects of veganism.
Travis has been a vegetarian since he was a teenager. Later, he transitioned to a vegan and gluten-free diet. Initially, he went vegan for health reasons.
“When I changed my diet to vegan, I noticed better endurance, and I had higher energy,” he told Food & Wine. When speaking to Men’s Journal, he described having “endless amounts of energy.” “I can go all day, and after it all I never find myself getting tired,” Travis said. “No matter what kind of shows I have done, or workouts I do on top of it, I still have to force myself to sleep at night.”
In 2024, Kourtney shared some advice for those who want to experiment with veganism.
Years ago, Kourtney and her kids gave up dairy and gluten, but more recently, Kourtney tried to stop eating meat. A Poosh post revealed that she tried “easing into (a plant-based diet) for the past six to seven months with no meat.” She admitted that the transition wasn’t easy for her at first. It’s unclear if her kids have stopped eating meat as well.
According to the Poosh post, Kourtney “couldn’t resist” a baked crab hand roll when she first tried going vegan. Admittedly, she had one “while at dinner during the first few weeks.” As the post read, “It’s all about balance and finding how and when you’re comfortable with incorporating the changes into your lifestyle.”
