Prince William is getting back to his public work after his wife Kate Middleton revealed that she is being treated for cancer. After Kate was hospitalized in January for a planned abdominal surgery, William stepped up and took on the role of caregiver, especially when it comes to their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
It is unknown if Kate will return to public facing duty while she is receiving treatment for her cancer, but that doesn’t mean the public isn’t thinking about her. During a recent work appearance, William promised volunteers at a food distribution center that he would make sure that his wife was well cared for.

William's latest project tackles food waste.
The Prince of Wales has returned to his public work this week, making an appearance at food distribution charity Surplus to Supper in England. During his time there, a volunteer presented him with cards and well wishes for not only Kate, but his father King Charles. Both royals revealed that they had undergone surgeries that found cancer earlier this year.
The volunteers had nothing put well wishes for Kate.
"Oh, some cards, you’re very kind. Thank you very much," Prince William said to the volunteer, Rachel Candappa, in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Lizzie Robinson, a producer for the British TV station ITV. When Candappa told the prince to look after his wife, he responded earnestly. "I will," he said, placing a hand on her shoulder, The Telegraph reported.
Chris Ship, ITV’s royal editor, tweeted about the royal engagement too, saying Candappa "told us she spent ages last night thinking of what to write in her message inside."
William was appreciative of the love for his wife.
The well wishes continued during William’s second stop at a youth center that aims to help the community. There, he was presented with a large bouquet of flowers for Kate.
"We had a flower arrangement from the staff and one from the young people and volunteers. He was very thankful that we were asking after her," Siobhan Donoghue, CEO of Perfectly Imperfect CIC, a group that receives food donations, told People.

Prince William has been spending time with his family.

William’s work with food waste is his latest project — the first one he’s taken up since Kate revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer. He understandably took time off to be present for his wife as she made the announcement, which was also timed to a break their kids had from school. This enabled them to spend uninterrupted time together as a family during what must be a particularly challenging time.
Kate is still not doing any public work.
As of right now, there is no timeline for when Kate might return to public duty. At the time of her cancer announcement, Kensington Palace shared that the Princess of Wales "will return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team. She is in good spirits and is focused on making a full recovery."
Later, sources claimed that she may join family events as she feels up to it, but that wouldn’t be an indication of her return to work.
