Prince William Urges Kate Middleton To Make a Major Change As She Returns to Work: ‘No Excuses’

Kate Middleton has spent most of the past year focused on her health, but as she gears up for a much more normal workload in 2025, Prince William is reportedly keeping a very close eye on the situation. According to a source close to the royal couple, Will is “putting his foot down” and wants Kate to promise that she’ll put herself first, no matter what happens in the year ahead.

Kate finished her chemotherapy treatment in September.

Since then, she’s continued to keep a low profile, only making select outings such as the Remembrance Sunday service earlier this month.

Her next major project is hosting her annual Christmas carol service in December, and it seems she’ll be returning to a more normal workload in the new year.

As she returns to work, William reportedly wants his wife to 'put herself first.'

After all, she and her health have been through a lot this year — and there’s a good chance she’ll likely still be recovering for a while.

“For obvious reasons, he wants this to be put in perspective alongside her own recovery,” a source told The Mirror. “He’s putting his foot down and urging Kate to draft a schedule that puts herself first, no excuses.”

It's important to William that his wife makes her health a priority.

“Next year is going to be a very big year, and ideally William would love it if Kate’s able to carry out her engagements as close to normal as possible,” the source continued. “But he’s also crystal clear that her health comes first, and he’s let everyone around them know that he doesn’t want her to dive back in too quickly.”

Another source said William is concerned that Kate will 'overdo it.'

The insider told Heat World that William has already “given all the aides and courtiers strict orders not to overload her.”

“He’s urging Kate to stay focused on her steady recovery rather than putting too much on her plate. He just wants to be sure she feels supported without unnecessary pressure,” the source said.

Putting herself first might be a bit of a challenge for Kate.

“It’s absolutely typical and predictable that this would happen because Kate knows no other way. William and others joke how she’s programmed to be everyone’s fairy godmother due to her ultra caring nature,” the source continued.

It might be hard for Kate to say no to people, but if she was ever going to make her health and her rest a priority, it’s now. There’s no doubt William (and their children) want her to take good care of herself as she continues her recovery.
