‘Teen Mom’ Alum Farrah Abraham Is Entering Politics

The world knows Farrah Abraham best for her time starring on 16 & Pregnant and Teen Mom, but now, she’s radically switching gears. Earlier this week, Farrah announced that she’s running for mayor, and even though her plans have already changed a bit in the 24 hours since she first shared the news, she’s still planning on taking the world of politics by storm.

Well, if she gets elected, that is…

Farrah announced her candidacy this week.

As Us Weekly reported, in a since-deleted Instagram post that Farrah shared on Thursday, she revealed the big news about the next phase of her career after raising daughter, Sophia, 16, in the spotlight.

“Austin, my story isn’t just a headline; it’s the blueprint for Austin’s 2026 transformation,” she wrote in her post. “Let’s Keep Austin Weird, Keep Austin Fair, Vote Farrah Abraham for Austin Mayor 2026!”

She went on to share her platform, which includes family planning programs as well as initiatives to support working families and veterans.

Later, she realized she may have made a mistake.

Hours after her announcement, Farrah appeared on TMZ Live, where she found out that the election for Austin’s next mayor is actually in 2028, not 2026, like she originally thought. After the discovery was made, though, Farrah seemed fine with it, replying, “I love that I jumped the gun.”

Now, Farrah is saying she’s actually running for city council.

In a new statement to Us Weekly that Farrah shared with the outlet via her rep on Thursday evening, Farrah shared that instead of mayor, she’s going for a city council seat.

“I’m running for Austin City Council District 5 because our city has lost balance — we’ve gone soft on crime, driven up prices and left working families like mine struggling to keep up. Enough is enough,” said the statement. “I’ve faced Hollywood drama, cancel culture and online trolls and I’m still here — ready to fight for Austin families who don’t have lobbyists or insider access. I’m here for the everyday parents juggling jobs, school runs and dreams. It’s time for a survivor mom who knows how to hustle and make real change.”

It will certainly be interesting to see if Farrah is chosen to represent her district. She may not have a political background, but maybe that will work to her benefit?
