In 2009, MTV viewers were introduced to Tyler Baltierra and Catelynn Lowell on 16 and Pregnant. The couple ultimately placed their daughter, Carly, for adoption following her birth. Fans have been following the couple's journey through multiple Teen Mom iterations ever since.
Catelynn and Tyler went on to welcome three more daughters into their lives: Novalee arrived in 2015, Vaeda was born in 2019, and Rya completed their family in 2021. In Season 2 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Tyler and Catelynn navigated having Vaeda evaluated for an IEP at school and figured out how to help the 5-year-old with ongoing sensory issues. Recently, Tyler offered an update on how their daughter is doing.

On 'Teen Mom,' Tyler and Catelynn Baltierra discussed Vaeda's sensory issues.
During a recent episode of Teen Mom, Catelynn and Tyler discussed observations both they and Vaeda's teacher have made about their daughter.
"Her teacher said Vaeda gets angry like when the class is really loud," to which Tyler suggested "Maybe she's overstimulated?"
"And I've noticed that about her, like when things are too crazy," Catelynn added.
"No, I know. She screams," Tyler agreed.
They also shared that Vaeda got evaluated for an IEP.
"Vaeda is 5 now, and she's still not speaking and she's definitely uncomfortable in loud environments," Catelynn explained on the MTV series. "Her teacher and I have talked, and they want to get her an IEP, which is an Individualized Education Program. … I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it's definitely got me a little stressed."
Recently, Tyler offered an update on how Vaeda is doing with her IEP.
On July 12, Tyler took to Instagram to share an update on Vaeda.
"PARENTING IS HARD! Especially when you worry so much about your child having struggles that you canāt control," he wrote. "But Iām happy to say that Vaeda has exceeded all expectations & surpassed her IEP program! Weāre still in the process of getting her further evaluated outside of her school with her primary pediatrician & itās going way better than we couldāve anticipated!"
The video clip accompanying Tyler's update showed him consoling Catelynn, who was overwhelmed with emotion following Vaeda's evaluation.

The doting dad also detailed how they are helping their daughter with sensory issues.
"We got her noise canceling headphones, made her a super special calm down corner in her room with sensory toys & an emotion identification board that she uses to express how sheās feeling to us & tbh sheās doing SO GOOD!" Tyler continued.
He added: "I know that she can do anything she puts her mind to & I promised her that I will always be there walking right beside her for as long as she needs me. I love my special Vaeda beta butter butt! ā¤ļø #GirlDad #BlessedByDaughters."
In the comments, fans praised and encouraged Tyler and Catelynn for how they are handling Vaeda's struggles.
"This made me tear up again watching it. That was an intense day," one Instagram user wrote. "I think yāall really demonstrated the hallmarks of loving parents by facing the challenge with curiosity and a commitment to Vaeda having the tools she needs."
Another fan praised Tyler for his words of reassurance to his wife, writing, "Youāre such a great husband! Your communication skills are immaculate as a mother sometimes we just worry a lil too much for our babies so her feelings are valid but Iām so happy youāre there to reassure her itās all going to be ok. We need more spouses like you guys who comprehend each other and communicate feelings keep up the excellent work you two ā„ļø."
Someone else echoed, "I think every woman in the world should have a husband as loving and loyal and supportive as Tyler!"
That person also complimented Catelynn. "She is a great wife but can we talk about how much of an amazing momma she is?!" the person added. "She isnāt crying because her daughter is 'different' or 'diagnosed' she is crying because as a mother we want our children to have everything we didnāt and have no reason for them to struggle or ever be unhappy or for anyone to have any reason to hurt our babies emotionally or physically!"
