Finding a good babysitter isn’t easy. But I guess one mom is going to have to go back to the drawing board after catching her sitter in a compromising situation — with her ex-husband.
The woman and her ex-husband finalized their divorce about a year ago.
The two were married for about eight years, the original poster explained on a since-deleted post on Reddit, and they share 50/50 custody of their 6-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son. The former couple are in their mid-30s.
“I have a babysitter 19(F) who I have look after the kids when I am busy at work and she has been the one who has handed over the kids the most to my ex-husband when he comes to pick them up,” she wrote in her post.
So far, the babysitter has been working out well.
But there is one eensy little problem.
“A few times over the last few months or so whenever my husband would come to pick up the kids I would sometimes find the bed a little different from how I had left it,” she wrote. “Sometimes a little too neat or a pillow placed differently.”
When the OP brought it up to the sitter, she apologized.
She claimed that the OP’s kids snuck into her room and were playing on the bed — which is NBD in the OP’s eyes.
“I once suspected my sheet was washed, it smelt fresher than a sheet that had been used for a few days, but I said nothing,” she added.
But a few days ago, the OP made a discovery which explained everything.
“I went home from work to pick something up and my ex husband's car was parked outside,” she wrote. “He was supposed to pick up the kids that day.”
But when she walked into the house, she found her kids all alone.
She asked where the babysitter or their dad was and they told her the bedroom.
“I go to my room open the door and find them having sex in my bed I yell and scream and they both grab their clothes and run out,” she recalled. “The babysitter went straight home and my ex tried to talk to me but I wouldn't let him. I was very upset so he took the kids and left.”
Her ex called her later that day to apologize.
She asked her ex how long their little trysts had been going on, and he admitted it had been "a few months."
“The babysitter also called to apologize. She begged me not to fire her. She really needs the job to help with college next year and other expenses,” the OP explained.
Which really put the OP in a bind. On the one hand, she felt like her babysitter disrespected her, but on the other she felt a little guilty giving her the ax.
Most people agreed: the babysitter had to go.
"No brainer!" one commenter noted. "Fire her, end of that, you are putting to much thought into this."
"You were paying her to f— your ex in your bed while your kids were left alone, but worse, KNEW where they were," someone else wrote. "My god, at the very least she’d be fired. Abhorrent behaviour from them both and a sick power play by your ex."
A third person advised: "She would be fired. Period. I would not be a reference for her. Your ex is a scumbag."
And other people agreed that her ex was also to blame.
"Fire her immediately and revisit your custody arrangements," one commenter advised. "Your husband clearly has no problem leaving the children unattended and prioritises his wants over your children’s needs. Ban your husband from entering your home and buy a new bed."
"Your husband is a pig," another commenter agreed.
"Your ex-husband is a pedophile," another commenter thought. "Put him on blast."
Later in the thread, the OP shared that she'd made a decision.
"Just sent her the message now she is fired," she wrote. "I feel so disrespected they should have at least met elsewhere or used a guest room, or not sleep together."
