In recent years, there has been a rise in women using weight-loss injections to shed pounds. Many are using semaglutide drugs like Ozempic — drugs that train your brain into thinking your stomach is full. But it has its dangers. One mom is sharing the story of how she ended up in the hospital after taking a weight-loss injectable.
One of the biggest dangers of the rise in popularity of these injections is that lots of knock-offs are available. Many women are using the knock-offs, which can make them very sick, and in some cases, lead to death.

The mom bought the injections from an unlikely place.
Scottish mom Nicole Wright wanted lose a few pounds before a vacation to Turkey. So she bought some weight-loss injectables from her local beauty salon for about $150 she explained to Kennedy News and Media, per the Daily Mail.
A short time after taking half of the lowest dose, Wright began throwing up. She couldn’t even hold down water. So, of course, she went to the emergency room, where doctors gave her anti-nausea medication.
She was soon on her way back to the hospital.
Four days after her trip to the emergency room, Wright began vomiting blood. So she went back to the hospital.
“My whole body was shaking and I had the worst stomach pains,” she shared. “My stomach was burning and I thought I was going to die. It was getting worse and worse and the pain was worse than childbirth.”
She had to be admitted to the hospital.
The mom was admitted to the hospital and doctors worked to purge the medication from her system. “I was rolling about my bed screaming in pain,” she said, admitting that the medication she took was a knock-off.

Her hospitalization led to a police investigation.
While she was still in the hospital, the mom explained that police “came and seized the vial [of medicine for] testing, and I told them everything.”
“I realized how serious it was,” she revealed. A police spokesperson told the news outlet that “a thorough investigation was carried out.”
Now, Wright is warning others.
After getting out of the hospital, she went to the beauty salon where she had purchased the injectables and told them what happened. And now, she’s warning others about the dangers.
“If anyone is thinking of getting the jabs, go through a doctor or pharmacy, not through a salon. You don’t know what you are taking,” she said. “The lesson I’m going to teach my daughters is that you’re beautiful no matter how you look,” she added. “There is nothing worth risking your health for.”
