Like most of the world, I too, stayed up past midnight to purchase items from Rihanna’s lingerie line Savage x Fenty. With the brand's body-positive advertising and its affordable price point, it felt like an adult version of Christmas was awaiting us all. Sadly, once I finally got out of the queue I had mixed emotions… and I wasn't the only one.
Although the items were affordable and the line was somewhat size-inclusive, I still had a difficult time shopping, thanks to some size chart confusion. The issues with the Savage x Fenty size chart made me wonder if the brand had really considered the challenges plus-size shoppers often face.
When I initially went to the Savage x Fenty website on the May 11 drop date, it only had a size chart for bras, and not the other items.

This is vital for plus-size shoppers, since what a 3X means at one brand could mean something totally different at another. It's inspiring to see Rihanna cast curve and plus-size models, but when shoppers go to buy those items they see on the curvy models, it could be a challenge.
Even if the brand didn't offer larger than a size 3X at its first drop (it's a little disappointing that's the largest size offered currently), it at least could've provided a size chart for the sizes (bras AND bottoms) it did sell.

When I looked on Twitter, I saw that other shoppers felt the same way.
"It only has a bra fit guide," one Twitter user noted.

I mean, it's great the bra fit guide was there, but with almost 90 items available ranging from corsets to bodysuits to teddies, bras were really just the tip of the lingerie iceberg. Other items need a size chart.
Others wished that the size charts were released before the drop date.

It wasn't helpful for the bulk of the Savage x Fenty items.

However, the brand DID end up responding by updating the size chart, further outlining the meaning behind the sizes.

"For UNDIES, we follow standard sizing (XS-3X). Note size 1X corresponds to XL, 2X to XXL, 3X to XXXL, etc," the Savage x Fenty size chart read on May 14, 2018. Although the size chart did elaborate the meaning of plus sizes, it still doesn't outline what exactly a 1x to 3X means in inches.
Like the first size chart version, this one outlines the bra size guide.

It also has a "Crossover Chart" for bra sizes.

Despite the lack of a fully informative size chart, the brand is definitely receptive to its customers, and is clearly making a concerted effort to be both size and racially inclusive.
It's great to see that the brand plans on adding more sizes and is engaging with its followers on Twitter by responding to concerns. Hopefully moving forward, it will not only add more sizes, but provide measurements for the Navy to shop accordingly.
There's definitely a lot of potential for the Savage x Fenty lingerie line, and I can't wait to see what drops next!
