It never ceases to amaze me that when it comes to women being murdered, nearly nine out of 10 of them are killed by someone they know. As the wife of a gentle, caring man and mom of a sweet, affectionate boy, I can’t comprehend the level of violence some women face every day, but when you hear about cases like Jennifer Ruth Stuart’s, you begin to kind of understand how it starts.
Why is that? Because Stuart’s alleged murderer, William Glen Blake, reportedly enlisted the help of his 15-year-old son to help him hide her body. With fathers like that in the world, what chance do young men and women have?
According to the Violence Policy Center, in 2022 more than 2,400 women were murdered by men and 87.5 % of them knew their killer. What’s even sadder it that a large percentage of those deaths were executed at the hands of someone who claimed to love their victims.
“Women killed by men are almost always killed by someone they know and more than half are killed by an intimate partner,” VPC Government Affairs Director Kristen Rand shared in a statement. “Much more must be done to identify and implement effective strategies to prevent these tragedies. More resources are needed at the federal, state, and local levels to help keep women safe.”
Blake is now behind bars. On October 23, 2025, Oregon’s Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office released a statement saying authorities had arrested Blake and he had been charged with murder in the second degree, abuse of a corpse, unlawful use of a weapon, and tampering with evidence.
Investigators believe Blake killed Stuart in their home on August 15, 2025, People reported. Authorities have not name his 15-year-old son, who was arrested after allegedly abusing a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Detectives also interviewed his older boy, Austin Michael Blake, after a hunt to find his red Chevy truck, though there are no reports of the 17-year-old being arrested.
Stuart’s body was recovered on September 1 in Mount Hood National Forest in Clackmas County. Locals were disgusted to learn William Blake had involved his underage son in hiding her body.
“Glad they got everyone involved but sad he got his sons involved! Great parenting! This guy lived literally 1 [block] from me and saw the whole arrest go down,” one concerned neighbor commented on the sheriff’s office’s release on Facebook.
“That is so sick to not only end someone’s life but to involve your children and ruin their life. Maybe they should find out how much they wanted to be a part of that,” empathized another commenter.
I know “not all men” would do something like this, but a good portion of them really need to figure out how to be better to the women in their lives as well as their kids.
