Teen Didn’t Answer Her Phone for 20 Minutes During Sleepover – So Her Mom Broke Into the House

In recent years, an increasing number of parents have been saying “no” to sleepovers. Unfortunately, many sleepover horror stories have made parents worry about safety. Sara Buckley is one of these parents. Because she admittedly doesn’t trust anyone, her daughter has only gone to sleepovers a handful of times.

One sleepover in particular was especially anxiety-inducing for the mom and ended up resulting in some pretty “unhinged” mom behavior.

Her daughter spent the night at her best friend’s house.

On TikTok, the mom explained that she decided to let her teenage daughter spend the night at her best friend’s house, which is just around the corner from theirs. Sara’s daughter is now a junior in high school. Even though the mom is pretty skeptical of sleepovers, there seemed to be no issues that night.

In the morning, Sara’s daughter texted her asking her to pick her up at noon so she could make it to a hair appointment at 1 p.m.

But when Sara went to pick her up, her daughter didn’t answer her phone.

At first, the mom was relatively unfazed. She figured there was probably a reasonable explanation for her daughter’s lack of a response. When her daughter didn’t respond to her texts, she tried calling her. She used her phone to check her daughter’s location and could tell that she was still inside the house, and she decided to knock on the door.

No one answered. She rang the doorbell. Though she could hear someone say, “Hello? Hello?,” no one answered the door, even when she identified herself as “Madeline’s mom” and said she was there to pick up Madeline.

The situation escalated after she waited for 20 minutes.

The mom started getting worried when she tried calling again and still got no response. Once 20 minutes had passed, she drove back home to pick up her husband for “backup.” After they continued to get no response, Sara decided to call the police while her husband knocked on neighbors’ doors attempting to get more information.

Desperate to get someone’s attention, her husband started yelling for their daughter and used a hose to spray the windows of the house. But to the mom, “the most unnecessarily ridiculous part of the story” is that the “person” who answered when she knocked on the door earlier was actually just a parrot repeating “Hello.”

Eventually, the desperate mom decided to break into the house.

When she called the police, they told her that the situation was not an emergency and that she would have to wait. As she was getting increasingly worried about her daughter, she couldn’t wait any longer and jumped over the fence to get into the backyard. There were two pit bulls in the yard, but she didn’t care.

“Never in my life have I cared less for my physical safety,” the mom admitted. The backdoor was unlocked, so she and her husband simply went into the house. They then started opening doors to rooms inside the house.

Eventually, they found their daughter and two of her friends sleeping in one of the bedrooms. By the time the parents found the teenagers, it was already 1 p.m., meaning the mom had spent an hour trying to locate her daughter.

The mom was extremely relieved to find her daughter, but the experience aged her.

“Do you know how long an hour is in mom minutes?” she asked. Although it’s hard to explain exactly how much time had passed in “mom minutes,” Sara tried her best: “I showed up at that house at 36 years old. I’m currently 87.”

Even though it might seem ‘unhinged,’ other moms could understand.

Other moms said they would’ve been “freaking out” and would’ve reacted the same way.

“Yes. To everything that happened,” one mom commented. “The moms who get it, get it.”

Another parent wrote, “girl! not only are u NOT crazy but I would have done the EXACT same thing! SLEEPING?! While I’m outside LITERALLY losing my d— mind!!”

A third parent called it “the best mom moment” ever. “It’s nice to know I’m not the only one,” the commenter added.
