A mom is getting slammed on the internet for letting her toddler take a big sip of her beer. The unnamed woman is being heralded as irresponsible for letting her daughter drink alcohol, but she shot back that it’s “not shooting f—–ing heroin,” so everyone needs to chill. Now, people online are debating the viral picture.

The photo of the anonymous girl was captured and reshared in a since-deleted post on Reddit's r/trashy forum.
The controversial photo quickly received a ton of attention.
“She loves the taste of Mommy’s beer,” the caption read. “#Drinkup.”
Screengrabs of the original Facebook post show that the original poster's immediate circle was NOT impressed by the candid photo.
In fact, most of them were livid.
“Don’t let her drink that for god sake!!” one commenter wrote. “What the h–l.”
“This is messed up,” someone else wrote. “It’s not even funny one bit.”
“Do you want your child to be taken into care?” someone else wondered. “Cause even if this is a joke someone will see this and report it to social services … delete it now or you’ll regret it.”
Some commenters on Reddit, however, didn’t think it was so bad.
“Eh, I gotta say … My kids has tasted mine,” one person commented. "Mostly to make them stop asking. Worked wonders with the oldest. My 1.5 year old, however, loves it. So that kinda backfired …”
“I’m not justifying anything here but often the only way of getting guaranteed clean drinking water in medieval England would be to ‘brew’ water with hops and to give your children beer,” someone else pointed out.
A third person put it this way: “If you drink beer and have a small child there's no doubt they've demanded a taste at some point. I see no harm [in] less than a sip. Seems like maudlin outrage here.”
But the mom wasn’t willing to take the criticism lying down.
She wrote it off as only a few “mouthfuls of beer” and told the commenters “giving me hate” that it’s not like her daughter was “shooting f—ing heroin.”
“Clearly you’ve all never experienced being a mom cause if you did you would know that this isn’t harmful to a baby,” she wrote.
She explained that her own mother “let me drink a little when I was young and would put whisky on my gums when I had sore teeth. I’d never put my baby in danger so all of you go to h–l.”
She later wrote that her daughter “finished the end bit” of her beer.
And her daughter is “here and happy and healthy,” she added. “So maybe stop f—ing judging me when you don’t know me that well yeah?”
Despite her claims, however, the truth is that letting children taste alcohol can be dangerous.
"The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) advises that children under the age of 15 are at the greatest risk of harm from drinking, and it is best therefore to delay their initiation to alcohol for as long as possible," according to DrinkWise.com.
