Mom Outs ‘Karen & Ken’ for Sending Nasty Text About Her Shirt During Son’s Soccer Game

A mom on TikTok went viral for sharing how she was mom-shamed for wearing a pride T-shirt at her son's soccer game. The mother of three, who goes by @ali.momof3 on the video sharing platform, blurred out the faces of the other parents giving her nasty looks, but showed a screenshot of the disgusting text sent about her T-shirt in the group chat for the parents on the soccer team.

Her TikTok has been viewed over 4 million times and has received nearly 20,000 comments. The other parent claimed it was an “accident” and her phone did a voice to text message from a comment made by her husband. The mom of three shared in her TikTok that she was “keeping my energy where it matters … on my kid.”

Fellow TikTok users have praised the mom for handling the situation so well, even though it was something she should never have had to deal with in the first place.

The other parent claimed it was an ‘accident.’

@ali.momof3 #Karen and #Ken texted the #teamgroupchat and put themselves on blast hating on me. So we got some retail therapy @target #hatersgonnahate #rude #homophobic #happypride #lgbtq ️‍ #Target ♬ Don't Stop Me Now Remastered 2011

The text overlay on the mom's TikTok video read, “Tonight I was having a good time watching my son at his soccer practice,” showing the mom sitting in a chair with her rainbow shirt on. But then the soccer mom drama started. Next the video text reads, “I overheard Karen and Ken make snide comments about my choice of attire."

The camera pans to two other parents nearby, with their faces blurred out. But the mom handles it well, facing the camera back to herself, putting her rainbow shades on with the text overlay reading, “Idgaf what anyone thinks or says about me, so I kept my energy where it matters … on my kid.”

Well, then a nasty text landed in the group chat for all the soccer parents that read, "Not a surprising development … but c—y mom showed up to practice decked out in her pride gear.”

After realizing the error the other parent wrote, “Oh my goodness. I apologize for that text. My text to talk turned on in my pocket and it picked up my husband's comment on the car. I sincerely apologize for that ignorant comment."

This mom handled the incident with class.

She was unimpressed with the apology — whether it was sincere or not — But handled the incident with grace, and responded that out of respect for their coach and keeping the thread only related to soccer, she wasn’t going to respond how she really wanted to.

The screenshotted text thread showed the mother of three’s response, “I will refrain from saying what I’d like to say.” In her caption she shared that she took her kids shopping to get more pride gear and to get some retail therapy at Target.

She posted a follow-up video about the incident.

@ali.momof3 Replying to @phaniedee13 she "apologized" privately too but I respectfully declined to waste any of my energy responding to her. #hatersgonnahate #lgbtq ️‍ #cuntymom #soccermomdrama #homophobic ♬ Guilty Conscience Radio Version

Responding to another TikTok user’s comment, the mom posted a follow-up video sharing a screenshot of a personalized apology from the other parent. The screenshot of the message reads, "I just wanted to personally apologize. I am horrified by my husband's comment. My husband and I have very different opinions and beliefs in that aspect. I would never put that in a message intentionally and have no idea how my phone was unlocked and able to do that. I think your kid is amazing and that’s obviously a reflection of you.”

The mom of three posted in her caption, “she ‘apologized’ privately too but I respectfully declined to waste any of my energy responding to her.” This mother took the high road, though she shouldn’t have had to, while standing in solidarity with the LGTBQ+ community, something that's especially needed considering 9 out of 10 LGTBQ students have reported being bullied or harassed in the past year, per Stomp Out Bullying.

TikTok users had this mom's back though.

TikTok users applauded the mom for how she handled things.

One user wrote “as a former coach and team manager, that family would be removed from the team immediately. your response was classy and the respect you drip is 15/10.”

“Her talk to text added the periods and emojis??" another user commented. "Weird mines not that intuitive. Good for you for staying calm but they’d be cut from our team.”

Another wrote: “1. You handled that so much better than most would and 2. I bet there are kids seeing your pride gear who feel safe and accepted bc of it .”
