A 40-year-old mom of three was in for the shock of her life. After deciding that she was done having children, the woman decided to have a gastric bypass procedure. Once she had lost the weight, she was unsatisfied with the loose skin on her body, opting to have a tummy tuck and rid herself of the skin.
A couple of months after having her tummy tuck, the mom learned that she was pregnant. When they did the math, she realized she had been newly pregnant during the tummy tuck. Thankfully, mom and baby were healthy, despite the invasive procedure.

The mom had decided she didn't want any more children.
Need to Know originally reported on the story of the unnamed mom. According to the outlet, her story was recently published in a medical report that the media outlet did not share. With three kids: ages 8, 10, and 12, she had reportedly “concluded her family planning” when she decided to have the tummy tuck.

The mom had previously undergone gastric bypass surgery.
Four years before she had the abdominoplasty, the mom had chosen to undergo gastric bypass surgery. As a result of her 110-pound weight loss, the woman had a lot of loose skin in her abdominal area. Due to the nature of the procedure, it’s usually only performed on women who are not going to be getting pregnant or giving birth.
She had no idea what was to come.
During a routine gynecological exam approximately four months after her tummy tuck, the woman found out she was pregnant. Doctors estimated she was around six weeks pregnant when the tummy tuck was performed. That is still quite early in a pregnancy, and there’s a chance that if any tests were performed, the pregnancy might not have been detected anyway.
Despite the procedure, the baby was OK.
During the pregnancy, the mom developed gestational diabetes and hypertension. But she didn’t have any complications directly related to the tummy tuck. Her baby boy was born at 38 weeks and was perfectly healthy, even if he was on the small side. And pregnancy aside, the mom claims she’s “still very satisfied” with her tummy tuck.
