Parents Slammed After Leaving Threatening Note on Park Bench for Toddler’s Birthday Party

The logistics of throwing a kids' birthday party can be a lot for parents. From forking over cash for a venue, sending out invitationss and ordering a cake, party supplies, and decorations, the checklist can be overwhelming. And hosting a kids' birthday party in a public space has its own set of etiquette rules as well.

Unfortunately, the parents of one child went about things all wrong. They decided to have a birthday party for their 4-year-old at a public park. To ensure enough tables would be available, they left threatening notes on the tables at the busy park hours before the party began.

A Reddit user shared photos of notes discovered at a busy park.

Recently, a Reddit user took to the Mildly Infuriating forum to vent about something encountered at a local park. "Busy public park on a hot saturday/labor day weekend," the Original Poster, or OP, wrote with photo evidence. "Seems super entitled. Park has been open for 4 hours and no sign of them. All the other tables are full."

The note was pretty threatening.

"Reserved for a birthday party," the note began. "Please respect the space we've set aside & do not use our tables."

It continued, " This is a 4 yr. olds party. Don't be the one to mess it up. Thank you."

A wide shot showed how many tables it included.

In the wide shot included by the OP of the birthday party setup, at least three large picnic tables in the shade are covered with a birthday party tablecloth. In the same vicinity, parents are standing or sitting on the ground as their kids play nearby at the playground.

That's not all.

In the comments, the OP noted they were at the park with 10 kids for a different birthday party, according to the New York Post. They came early in hopes of securing a space for everyone. "Silly me," the Reddit user wrote.

“I found it annoying that the note was written aggressively while also depending on other people’s decency to allow them to bend common courtesy. It’s rude and mannerless," the OP also commented.

Even worse? The tables were reportedly empty for six hours before the birthday party actually started.

Redditors slammed the 'entitled' parents.

Commenters agreed with the OP that the notes "reserving" tables at a public park were unacceptable.

"Nope. Unless its an area of the park that can be reserved with the park authority that means nothing," one person wrote. "They don't get to claim those tables all day & leave them empty."

"It’s just like people reserving pool chairs at 7am and not showing up to the pool until 3!" someone else pointed out.

Meanwhile, someone else suggested, "Bro. Just use the table and if they show up say you're here for the party."

It certainly seems like the tables didn't need to sit empty for hours. What do you think?
