People Are Paying $5,500 for This Barely Noticeable Lip Lift & We Have Questions

How much would you pay for more natural-looking lips? For fans of the Cupid Lift, the answer is around $5,500. A lip lift is a cosmetic procedure that is meant to make people look younger and improve the appearance of their lips. To critics of the procedure, the difference between the before and after photos is hardly noticeable. However, that might also be part of the procedure’s appeal, as fans of it say they love how “natural” their lips look after the procedure.

There are different types of lip lifts. Plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Talei specializes in a type that he calls the Cupid Lift. Speaking to People, Dr. Talei explained that the Cupid Lift is a type of upper lip lift, and “is the most natural, controllable way to lift someone’s lip.”

The Cupid Lift is also customizable. Dr. Talei uses the Cupid Algorithm, which he developed 10 years ago, to achieve “a beautiful symmetrical shape each time,” per People. According to the Cupid Lips website, Cupid Lift surgeons aim to “shape, restore, and enhance — ensuring effortless beauty that’s uniquely yours.”

The procedure requires local anesthesia, but the recovery process isn’t too cumbersome. After the 30- to 60-minute procedure, people can expect to deal with some “swelling, bruising, and tenderness,” according to the website. While those who get the procedure done might deal with “mild swelling for the first few days” and “bruising,” another advantage to the procedure is that it’s permanent.

In April 2024, Dr. Talei shared one patient’s story via Instagram. The patient described seeing the plastic surgeon for a consultation, but he immediately noticed that her lip filler had “migrated all around (her) lips.” After meeting with Dr. Talei, the patient decided to have the Cupid Lift procedure done.

“After dissolving her old filler, we opted for a Cupid Lift, which left her with a much more balanced, softer and youthful appearance,” Dr. Talei wrote on Instagram. “Often times, the eye will notice that something is off and attribute it to other areas that are not the actual issue.”

In another testimonial post, the plastic surgeon added that “the end goal is never to change or take away from who they are as individuals, but rather take who they are and naturally enhance them into being the best versions of themselves.”

We’re gonna be honest though, $5,500 is a whole lot of money to spend on the results seen in these before and after photos. Of course, it the patient is happy with it more power to them. But, like some lip plumping gloss would basically do the same thing, would’t it?
