There is nothing worse than a horrible mother-in-law. Having a difficult MIL can be an absolute nightmare. A video is going viral on TikTok showing a nightmare MIL getting a little too eager during the gender reveal for her son’s yet-to-be born child. In the video, the woman gets called out for her behavior by her daughter-in-law, which is sometimes rare.
Commenters couldn’t help but pile onto the MIL for her “Karen” behavior. They also called out the woman’s son for his behavior, scolding him for not standing up for his wife against his mother.

The reaction isn't totally surprising, but it's alarming.
In the video, shared by the @itsgoneviral TikTok account, the parents-to-be set off a popper, with pink confetti coming out. As the couple expressed their joy, the dad’s mom comes into the frame. She excitedly tackles her son, causing him to fall on the couch behind him. The mom-to-be stands in shock as her MIL continues to hug her son.
The pregnant mom didn't hold back.
“She’s gonna be like her nanny, she’s gonna be like her nanny,” the grandmother-to-be said excitedly. The mom stands off to the side, looking sadly at the exchange between her MIL and her husband.
“You just completely stole our moment,” she said. “What do you mean?” the MIL asks. “This is our baby, I don’t think this was right,” the mom says.
The conflict comes up quickly.
The MIL seems surprised by her daughter-in-law’s reaction. “I’m excited that you’re having a baby,” she says. The daughter-in-law points out that she wasn’t even allowed to hug her husband first. Somehow, the older woman doesn’t see the flaw in her behavior.
“He hugs you every day, like what’s the problem?” she asks. This causes the son to step in. “Everyone’s just happy, come on,” he says.
“Are you a bit hormonal, do you want to go and lie down?” the MIL asks cruelly. This doesn’t go over well at all. “Why is everyone staring at me and attacking me?” she asks.

People immediately began calling out the MIL's behavior.
“‘Are you hormonal’ would have put me in jail for my reaction,” someone commented.
“He should have been the one to tell his mother that wasn’t cool,” another person wrote.
Someone else commented, “Wow the fact she can’t see she is wrong speaks volumes about that mother in law.”
“Having a KAREN as a mother in law totally a NIGHTMARE,” another person exclaimed.
“If she’s so excited to have a grandchild, why didn’t she hug the person carrying the grandchild?” someone else questioned.
The commenters really laid into the husband.
Another person exclaimed: “The husband saying ‘it’s fine it’s fine’ NO SIR it is NOT fine! Stand up for your wife!”
“The fact that she had to address the situation means that the mother in law does it all the time!” someone pointed out. “The guy does not stand for his wife.”
Another wrote: “‘Everyone’s happy, come on.’ Grow up and defend your wife. The MIL already had her moment with her own pregnancies.”

Another comment reads: “If he cannot side his wife, this is gonna end up in divorce. Mother in law will talk behind her back one day and husband does nothing.”
