There is no shortage of parenting content online these days, but it still seems like every day, moms and dads are finding new, inventive ways to discuss the highs, lows, and even the completely gross parts of parenting. Recently, a couple in Washington, DC, who both work as news anchors, reported on their infant daughter’s diaper explosion as if it were a breaking news story, and the results are absolutely adorable.
Reporter and Afro-Latina influencer Jeannette Reyes, and her fellow news anchor husband Robert Burton, got creative for social media, and we have to say, we're now totally obsessed with their beautiful family.
Jeanette and Robert brought their day jobs home.
Jeannette is a morning news anchor for WTTG-TV and her husband Robert is an anchor for WJLA-TV. The couple share a 1-month-old daughter, Isabella, and have incorporated some of the training from their day jobs into their lives as new parents.
In the video, which is one of several that have gone viral from Jeannette's social media accounts, she walks over to her daughter’s bassinet, sporting her TV hair and makeup, and introduces her daughter in her signature news anchor voice. She says to her daughter: “Good morning, Bella. It is 9:52. Hopefully you slept well; certainly no one else did, but we're not going to point any fingers …”
Robert did the weather report.
Then she tosses to her husband for a weather report. Robert says: “Well, JR as you can see, beautiful day outside. Temps in the mid 80s, no humidity. Will we get to enjoy it? Well, if spit ups, feedings and diaper changes don’t get in the way, we just might be able to get out of here before midnight."
Jeannette rounds off the report with news of a diaper explosion.
Robert then tosses back to his wife who says, “Speaking of diaper changes, we have some breaking news. An explosion at the diaper station. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported and authorities tell us they do have a suspect in custody.” The camera pans to Isabella on the changing table, sucking on her pacifier. “Unfortunately, that suspect is not speaking at the moment.”
Hilarious.
Jeannette and Robert conceived their daughter with the help of IVF.
The story of how these two became parents has also been documented on Jeannette’s Instagram page. She has polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal disorder that can make getting pregnant a little bit more challenging. With that in mind, the couple decided to undergo in vitro fertilization to have their first child.
Jeannette has also shared a video of herself breaking the news to her husband in anchor voice, with a prank birthday shout-out.
They shared Isabella's birth announcement with a "breaking news" report as well.
Isabella was born earlier than her expected due date. On the day she was supposed to arrive, Jeannette shared a picture of Baby Bella asleep at the news desk, with a breaking news sign behind her.
In the caption, Jeannette wrote, “She must’ve known her parents are news anchors because I found out she was coming early while @abc7robert was on air and just an hour before I went on — talk about breaking news But we couldn’t be happier to be her parents ”
