If you want something you can’t do for yourself, you go to a professional, right? A woman on TikTok wanted a fancy birthday cake for her granddaughter’s first birthday party and knew it was beyond her culinary pay grade, so she went to a baker who told her she would create the cake of her dreams. Spoiler alert: This cake is more of the nightmare variety.
The grandmother, @khrissyjoe1, had a vision of a fairy cake that she took to a cake maker who accepted her order. Khrissy gave the baker $200 and went on her way, thinking this was the perfect setup for the upcoming first birthday party. Sadly, she was so very wrong.
The cake is, well ... something.
We have to be honest: When we first saw this thing, we had no idea what was actually going on. Khrissy said in the video that she was upset, and we can see why. The cake looks like a couple of blobs piled on each other with some assorted, pitiful-looking greenery and giant brown crumbs.
“This is the worst cake I have ever seen in my life,” she said.
We can’t lie; it’s not great. Some people even said it appeared phallic. We’ll let you be the judge of that.
Khrissy had no qualms about telling the baker how she felt.
The grandmother explained to the woman that she was “highly upset,” and the baker allegedly had an excuse.
“She said, ‘Well, I will admit it was a lot harder than what I thought it would be,’” Khrissy recalled.
Yeah, we have to agree. It looks like the cake maker underestimated her abilities. And unfortunately, Khrissy was the guinea pig.
This creation is just plain ugly.
It’s not just that it isn’t well made. The colors aren’t very pretty, and Khrissy said the flowers, which should have been fondant, are fake. They kind of look like the stems you pick up at the dollar store.
As she is panning around the cake in the video, she makes another discovery: “There was hair in the cake. Mmm.”
Nope, we’re out on that one. It’s one thing to be ugly, but unsanitary is a whole other issue.
You guessed it: Khrissy and her cake wreck went viral.
The ugly cake is all over TikTok, with 5.4 million views. People were shocked about all kinds of things.
The price was a red flag for a lot of people.
“That sounds like a friend seeing that picture of a 1200 dollar cake and saying I can do that for 200 bucks ,” someone commented.
“A 4 tier cake being only $200 is insane to me …that would be at least double where I’m from,” another person wrote.
Others thought it was a joke.
“I would’ve thought I was being pranked! Looking around for a hidden camera!” a comment reads.
Someone agreed.
“Reminds me of when Martha Stewart does stuff and then you and I try to duplicate it. ” another person wrote.
And there was a reference to one of our Netflix favorites. “This is ‘Nailed It!’ quality ,” another comment reads.
The pros were shocked. “Holy moly! I’m a cake maker if it’s too hard then you say I’m sorry that’s not something I’m comfortable doing and give another option or pass,” someone commented.

The baker did try to make it better.
Khrissy posted a couple of follow-up videos, including one of what the cake was supposed to look like. Wow. That is all we can say.
She also said she probably should have known there was a problem when she wanted some sneak peek pics and the cake maker said it wasn’t ready. She did refund Khrissy $100. At the end of the day, it will be a fun memory for the family.
“I just want to say thank you to the people who came and commented and made me laugh. Lord,” Khrissy said in one of the follow-up videos.
It’s good you have a sense of humor, Khrissy, because this is some funny stuff. We’re not laughing at you. We’re laughing with you.
