A crucial part of Beyoncé’s earliest years of life suffered a tragedy. The superstar singer’s childhood home in Houston, which is now occupied by residents outside of her family, caught fire in the early hours of Christmas morning, leading to a terrifying and heartbreaking scene. Fans might recognize the home from Beyoncé's recently released Renaissance concert film, along with other early home videos the music legend has shared in the past.

The fire started early in the hours of Christmas Day.

The home, which is in the Third Ward of Houston, housed a family with two young children. The family self-evacuated and nobody was in the house when firefighters showed up shortly after 2 a.m., according to Fox 26.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire quickly.
When firefighters arrived within three to five minutes of being called, they found that the second story of the home was ablaze. To keep the fire from escalating, they had to cut a hole in the roof to let out the flames. The fire was contained within 10 minutes, per Fox 26.
Beyoncé featured the house in previous home videos and the Renaissance Tour concert film.

During Beyoncé’s Houston stop on the Renaissance tour back in September, she and her mother, Tina Knowles, were spotted in front of the house taking photos. In the concert film, there is a scene where she drives by the house.

The house is a local tourist spot.
It seems that it's become a popular spot for fans to visit when they're in town, just to catch a glimpse of where Beyoncé's story began.
"We have Beyoncé tourists here all the time, it’s bizarre," next door neighbor Jack May told KHOU 11. "This house was for sale in '93 which was when the Knowles moved out and we took a look at it but ultimately didn't go forward with it."
Beyoncé's father shared a holiday throwback that likely took place in the house.
On Christmas Eve, Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, posted a sweet holiday throwback snap of the star with her younger sister, Solange.
"At that age, something as simple as putting up an ornament on a tree can feel like the biggest thing the world," he captioned the post. "What I love most about this very moment is the sheer love, determination, and confidence that Beyoncé has in her eyes while looking at Solange."
