People are hoping that their partners take notes after seeing the romantic way a man proposed to his now-fiancée. Ian Corcoran’s romantic proposal took about three years to execute. One day, when he was writing a letter that started with the word, “Will,” he had an idea.
He thought writing a series of letters to spell out, “Will you marry me?” could be a good way to propose to his fiancée, Jessica Geralis.

Ian penned the first letter in the series after six months of dating.
TikTok users who saw the viral proposal video noticed that Ian seemed to know that Jessica was “the one” from the beginning. In the video that Jessica shared, Ian can be seen getting down on one knee and handing Jessica the the 14 letters framed together and spelling out, “Will you marry me?”
“From the start he knew!!” one person who watched the video observed. Jessica responded saying, “The first one is from 6 months into dating 😭 they always know!!”
As part of his elaborate proposal plan, Ian gave Jessica the letters out of order.
Some social media users who watched the video wondered how Jessica didn’t figure out that Ian’s letters were all part of his plan to propose. In a follow-up video, she explained that she received the letters out of order.
Additionally, in the framed version of the letters, the first letter was much larger than the other letters on the paper, making it clear that when put together, the first letters of each love letter spelled out, “Will you marry me?” However, the versions that Jessica received over the course of three years were not like this, she explained in a comment on TikTok.
“He had a locked box that he kept the big letter copies in so I wouldn’t find them 🥰 the man’s a planner,” she wrote.

She received letters and notes from Ian frequently, so she really didn’t think anything of it.

Ian has the tendency to do nice things and write sweet notes for Jessica on a regular basis, so she didn’t think anything unusual was happening when he wrote love letters for her. Ian gave her the love letters on anniversaries, birthdays, Valentine’s Day, and sometimes on random occasions over the past several years.
“He decided to play the long game,” Jessica noted on TikTok. In addition to the love letters, though, Ian also wrote Jessica several “tiny little notes” over the years.
He proposed at Palisades Park in California in February.

“Completely over the moon right now 🥰,” Jessica captioned the video of the romantic proposal. Speaking to People, she said, “I think we both blacked out a little because neither of us remember what he said, we were just both crying and he put my ring on.”
She described the moment when she “burst into tears.” “He first handed me the final letter and gave me the frame, and I realized he signed the last letter saying, ‘Love, your fiancé’ instead of ‘Love, Ian,’ and when I looked up he was on one knee,” she recalled to the publication.
People called it ‘the best proposal.’
Reacting to the romantic proposal on TikTok, one person wrote: “This is the best proposal I’ve ever seen!! That is love.”
Another person referred to the proposal as “the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen outside of a movie.” Some TikTok users hope that their partners will see the proposal and follow suit.
“My man better take notes!” a third person wrote. “This is so so cute!”
