I Planned My Sister’s Entire Baby Shower & Then She Said I Didn’t Do Enough & Uninvited Me

A man was happy for his sister when he found out she was expecting her first child. He even offered to help her plan her baby shower. His sister didn’t seem to think he was doing enough, however, and ended up taking back his invitation and even removing him from the sibling group chat.

Because he thinks he did a lot to help prepare for the baby shower, the brother is struggling to understand why his sister is so upset with him.

She seemed to think her brother would pay for the baby shower.

The man’s younger sister is in her early 30s. When she found out she was pregnant with her first child, the whole family was “thrilled for her,” the man explained on Reddit. He added that “she and her partner have been trying for a long time to get pregnant.”

After hearing the exciting news, the man offered to help his sister with her baby shower. Somehow, she seemed to think that meant her brother would pay for the baby shower.

The man’s sister wanted to invite 120 people.

When the man’s sister “drafted a guest list of 120 people,” he figured it was appropriate to ask her about her budget. Because he didn’t hear back from her, he spoke to his other sister and mom. They told him that his younger sister told them that he offered to cover all of the costs – something he never did.

Though he didn’t agree to pay for everything, he still thinks he did a lot.

In his Reddit post, the man listed several tasks he completed in preparation for his sister’s baby shower. He created the invite, started the registration site, offered to work on the centerpieces, drove to the hall to book it, answered questions from guests who have RSVP’d, and agreed to pick up food on the day of the baby shower. Additionally, his husband volunteered to help with the games. He even bought a stroller for her.

His sister told him she was ‘disappointed.’

Though he believes he’s helped out with a lot, his sister doesn’t think he’s done enough. She told her brother that she was “disappointed by how much work you’ve put into this shower.” Confused, he listed all of the things he has done. Notably, the sister has made similar comments to other members of the family.

“She complains about other people in her life to my mom and sister about how no one is pitching in,” the man wrote. “She asked my mom what she was contributing to the shower. My 70-year old retired mother was taken aback by that comment and offered to cook food for 120 people.”

Admittedly, the brother doesn’t quite understand why his sister invited so many people to her baby shower. “I don’t know much about them but I assumed they were intimate events in someone’s home and not something the size of a wedding,” he wrote. “I had less people at my own wedding.”

His ‘ungrateful’ sister revoked his invitation and removed him from the sibling group chat.

In response to all of the baby shower drama, the man’s sister decided she didn’t want her brother at her baby shower. He asked other Redditors to weigh in, wondering if he did something wrong. Many Redditors defended the man and were shocked his sister invited so many people to the event.

“You did way too much,” one Redditor assured him.

“You did more than most people would do,” another person wrote. “Nobody needs 120 people at a baby shower or a hall for it.”
