The movie Wedding Crashers was a box office hit in 2005, and introduced millions of people to the idea of showing up randomly and uninvited to a wedding. It probably happens more than we realize, with someone sneaking into the reception to snag a glass of champagne or even a slice of cake.
We've even seen some pretty amazing photos of celebs who've crashed weddings over the years, and the couple often has a great story to tell.
The story about some wedding crashers recently popped up on Reddit's Mildly Interesting sub with a picture and a funny story. It appears that the couple not only crashed the wedding, but left a gift behind, and it's probably not what you're thinking.

The crashers made themselves right at home.
The original poster explained that an uninvited man and woman were hanging out at OP's sister's wedding before their dad's best friend tossed the drunk couple out. OP thought it was funny.
"We thought it was hilarious and thought nothing more of it until today when they opened their gifts and found a card from 'Uncle David and Aunt Nancy.' There's no David or Nancy in either family, and the underlined bits are just in-your-face trolling," the OP wrote.
They left a nice card and some cash.
Uncle David and Aunt Nancy left a card for the couple that reads, "Cheers to a life filled with many special memories. We feel so blessed to have been witness to your beautiful wedding. We wish you all the best in life! Love, Uncle David & Aunt Nancy"
Inside was $11.54 for the couple to spend on whatever they'd like.
OP loved the whole thing and wrote, "David and Nancy, wherever you are, you provided us with a lifelong story and a core memory. Sorry you got kicked out. From the looks of it, you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves!"
Redditors thought the story was hilarious.
Not surprisingly, Redditors appreciated the joke, and some felt these people might be professional crashers.
Like this person who wrote, "Ok but the fact they HAD a wedding themed card on them insinuates they planned this &/ or do this regularly ."
This Redditor agreed, "They came prepared with a card, now these my type of people."
Another person guessed the couple hit all the events in town. "I bet uncle and aunt are at a Funeral right now, at the finger Buffett," they wrote.
Wedding crashers seem to be everywhere.
Plenty of Redditors had their weddings crashed or have crashed a wedding or two themselves.
Like these people who commented: "My sister and I went to a wedding we weren't invited to. Had a drink, everyone was staring at us and we left. We just happened to be waiting for a taxi at the hotel."
This person got in on the action at a wedding: "I crashed a wedding once. They rented a venue at a campsite I was at. Made up some crazy fishing stories and ended up in a few family photos."
This person knows a funeral crasher: "My mother's friend goes to pretty much every funeral she hears about, we said because presumably of the free food at the wake afterwards. We discussed that you could read the obituaries in the paper and go along to several a day, you'd just have to memorise their name and pay attention to the eulogies to figure out your backstory."

You never know who might show up at your wedding.
One person has a hilarious scheme that we might steal someday.
The commenter wrote: "My husband and I used to do this but only at weddings we were invited to. In addition to our gift, we'd drop another card, write a lovely message and add a random amount of money from a fictional aunt and uncle. Drove our friends crazy until they figured it out after a few years. Still makes us all laugh!"
Uncle David and Aunt Nancy, we love your sense of humor. This was a classic and a story that will be shared for generations. Well played, friends.
